10 for 10: All-Star Weekend

Postby Andrew on Thu Jul 30, 2009 9:43 am

I've just posted the latest instalment of my 10 for 10 series, check it out here.

This is the fifth instalment in the 10 for 10 series of articles in which I talk about the ten things I'd most like to see in different areas of NBA Live 10. Previously, I've covered gameplay, Dynasty Mode, online play and presentation. Today's article takes a look at the All-Star Weekend.

Just one more in the can after this, though I'm thinking of doing a kind of recap/looking ahead to 10 with what we know today, especially with some of the things mentioned in 10 for 10 being confirmed for NBA Live 10 already.

recap sounds like a good idea

not really much i can say about this article, you hit all the points right on the head and if they were to implement all of those features, ASW would be more than just a little break from dynasty mode and a dunk contest.

Shooting Stars would be a nice surprise, the NBA Street Homecourt game got the WNBA license, so we could at least see a NBA, WNBA team if they cant get any legends.
Opinions are my own.

Thanks. :)

I'd say that the Skills Challenge probably isn't happening because of the sponsorship issues but I thought I'd throw it out there nevertheless (it was kind of hard to come up with ten worthwhile things for All-Star Weekend which isn't too bad as it is). The Dunk Contest could do with a few new features and as I said, I'd prefer to see the scoring system a little easier on dunks that would garner decent scores in real life and a few new harder dunks that give a better chance of a 50 when executed perfectly.

The substitution frequency issue probably bothers me a little more though, but hopefully that will be different since they've hinted at overhauling the substitution logic this year.

They could always make their own "EA Sports Skill Competition" or something.

True, the sponsor wouldn't have to be authentic though if the concept varied I'm sure it would be a bit of a letdown.

need to fix the way the all star teams are chosen... perhaps let the user pick the bench players? i played a season as the cavaliers, LeBron wasnt selected to the all star team. travesty.

Representing the voting is definitely an idea I can get behind. Being able to cast a vote for reserves along with the CPU team and having some kind of "popularity" attribute determining the likelihood of players being voted in as starters would be pretty cool but at the end of the day, better selections by the sim engine would be at least satisfactory.
