SUPERSTAR MODE...LETS DO IT!!!

I know that the game is not even out yet. I have been a loyal fan of NBA Live since 95, even going back to "Bulls vs Celtics" and the USA Olympic basketball game. I am the last person to complain about a game that has brought me so much joy over the years, however this must be said NOW. This is not a compliant. What this is a petition to get superstar mode into Live 11. I've read the wishlist for the last 4 years and Superstar Mode has always been just another bullet in the list, not something that is a primary desire.

Now that gamers have finally gotten most of what we want out of Live, its time to stop trying to think of ideas that probably will never be included in any game and start making a serious push for something that is feasible and highly desired. I mean, the graphics are dead on...The gameplay improvements are phenominal (with the exception of tip dunks). The presentation, at least in the demo are the best yet for Live.....The crowd and atmosphere are great....Most of the things this forum has been complaining about for years seem to have been addressed, and with the addition of Dynamic Updates, where jerseys, accessories, whatever can be updated makes Live the premier basketball game and a dream come true if you've been playing as long as I have.

Having said that, the one thing that all true Live players desire at this point is a Superstar Mode. So this is a petition to get that done in 2011. Lets make this a priority!!! Especially since 2K now has it......Please comment and explain why you want superstar mode, how long you've wanted it or whatever. Since the Live team seems to now pay attention to us, we just might get this done if we start now!!! Sticky this and lets just see how far we get with it. Thanks for your time.

what about create a team? Owner mode? the first being in older lives and forgotten and the 2nd being rumored ever since Live 2004.

Agreed. Create-a-Team and Owner mode are definitely welcomed additions, but this would go into dynasty mode (as with Madden). Madden has Dynasty mode where you can be the owner as well as create your own team, stadium, uniforms, etc. AND it has a Superstar Mode.

No argument here, though issues with likeness rights keep shooting that down...at least in terms of including various players from the 90s, notably one in particular who I'm sure a lot of people would like to see but very likely would not.

I’m patiently awaiting a featured video showcasing a superstar type mode this week or I’m going to be sick. They’ve flirted with the idea last year with “Be a Pro Mode” and 2k stole Live’s grade system and made their own improvements with the draft combine. I really want to get live badly this year but if there’s no Superstar mode I may wait until next year and consider 2k10 this year. I would really be heartbroken if this mode is missing from live 10. Especially with the cool things you can do at EASports world like up load faces and such. It would be a shame!

I don’t know why Live has abandon things that made their franchise fun. I remember on SNES and PS1 you were able to create your own teams. You just had to pick up free agents or create players and it was fun. Also the legends were in the previous gen titles, why the change? We just want the old stuff back!

A full Be A Pro mode isn't going to be in the game next week. I am 99.99% sure since the game is already gold, people have the game, and nothing was featured or talked about it when they could have competed with 2k's My Player.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying the Draft combine’s grading system isn’t more detailed (because it is and it’s amazing), I just think live gave them the idea from “Be a Pro Mode”.

Was their any mention of improving the AI when you’re locked on a player? When I lock on a player the CPU doesn’t pass nor shoot by them selves and its frustrating. Can EA at least give me that?

Players would pass and shoot by themselves in Be a Pro last year, if I recall correctly. They would in OTP at any rate, if you found yourself the lone user left on a team and locked to the one player.

This is one of the biggest reasons why I'm definetly getting 2k10

I enjoy playing with Legends/old school players and Live has basically given up on including these types of players or teams.

2k9 had hidden all time uniforms for the Celtics, Lakers, and Sonics iirc, and a basic Western Forum. Thanks to those legends, all those got used in my game this year.

I hate to admit it, but I'm kind of over the legends as a make-or-break feature. It could just be because Michael Jordan isn't going to be featured anytime soon, but when it comes to the legends or FIBA teams I'm more forgiving of their absence or shortcomings. That's not to say I don't appreciate them or that I think we should stop asking for them, but they aren't a deciding factor for me.

The Legends things has been settled. 2k has them except for Jordan, we (Live) don't and probably won't have them for a while. Ok, cool. Now back to Superstar Mode.........

After Madden came out with, how may times have you said that Live should have it?

I'll say it on behalf of the community, but in all honesty I can live without it. As I've said before, I'm more a fan of the season/Dynasty concept.

Look Andrew....you and Jao are the one this forum looks to to kind "lead" us. You are the one who usually have all the inside info on the new Lives. You are the ones who submitt the wishlist every year. You are the ones who get invited by EA to check out the upcoming LIVES. You are the ones that that those EA guys seem to listen to, at least compared to the rest of us. In order for this to work, we need soom more enthusiam, man. We need you to get hyped out superstar mode. I mean 2k already has it. Do it for the love of LIVE, man.

I know you are a dynstay mode guy. I love dynasty mode too, really. But imagine creating your unique player, then being drafted by an NBA team, going to the gym to practice your jumper/defense/rebebounding whatever....getting your player prepared for the game next and adding to his ratings......
Imagine being able to play an NBA Live game as you from a 1rst person view...like a shooter game, or like superstar mode in Madden.....Driving thru the lane, seeing the wingman cut out of your peripheral and throwing the alley-oop pass. Can you image how real it would feel, imagine the intensity of making that pass....or better yet being the one to finish with the dunk.

Just think about It.....

At least Anderw lets shoot for create a team, stadium, uniform, owner mode......you know like Madden. At least that will make your beloved Dynasty mode better.

As I said, I'm all for including it in Wishlists and I think it's something that will need to be in future NBA Lives, possibly as soon as NBA Live 11, because it's becoming the standard in sports games. So it's not something that I'll ignore or refuse to post on behalf of the community; far from it. But I'm sorry, it really doesn't hold the same attraction for me as it does for other people. It doesn't mean I won't do what I can, but I don't think I'll ever be as hyped for it as other people are. That's just the way it is.

Guys I’m really on the fence right about now. I’ve been playing the draft combine and it’s really good on game-play and AI. I mean the fundamentals of the games are like real AAU basketball scrimmages. As a basketball player it felt like I was back in the gym looking for cutters off of screens (plus I’m big on the lock player feature). I’m still grieving over EA’s pass on superstar mode in this years live, but I’m managing. The one thing about 2k that turns me off big time is the Jerseys. They look like replica jerseys you can get for 30 bucks rather than Authentics. When I ignore the jersey setbacks I get more and more impressed by the game-play vids. The visual of this game looks amazing.

Live has stepped up big time in the game play department, but demo wasn’t as impressive as I’d like. I’m not sure if this will be fixed in launch day’s patch, but I’m hoping they fix the CPU’s AI when you’re locked onto a player. I always play locked in as PG and some plays exclude your position, so I will need to CPU to make passes or shot jumpers on their own (you know, sort of like last years game smh). The attire on live is ahead of its competitor and looks better than last year. I had my complaints with the freestyle control but it’s grown on me.

Live will always have my heart, not to mention best buy just release its sale price for tomorrow at 49.99 (so it’s even harder to make a decision). Although live has improved, 2k’s "My Player mode" will way in on my choice. Anyone else having this same dilemma?

Do what I sometimes do. I just get two cats, one is named Live and other 2K. I put both cats in a medium sized cage. I shoot either one with a crossbow, the one who ends up alive is the game that I will buy. If I miss, I continue shooting until one cat is dead.
