Patch Information

Postby Arcane on Mon Sep 14, 2009 2:14 pm

Mike Wang has discussed about having a button/trigger control for backdown/post up as well as the contextual which is currently in the demo and final product to be patched in the game when the official patch is released.

I'll try out a RS click for post tomorrow. Shouldn't be an issue to patch it.

Also someone earlier questioned why I didn't say definitively that the stagnant AI bug in the demo was fixed in the final version. I just didn't want to put a 100% guarantee on anything because it's an elusive bug. It cropped up a few times throughout the year and always had a different cause. To the best of my knowledge, it's completely fixed in the final version. In other words, I haven't seen it happen in any of my games over the past few weeks.

As I am a PS3 user I am yet to play the demo so I can't personally give feedback to how it plays contextually but I wouldn't mind it being in if it is a bit tricky to master.

*here is a bit more info*

That would keep both camps happy since some are already used to the AI making that decision and others want control of it every time. Is that possible Mike?

yes. Either way, the contextual postup will stay in tact. LS click or RB for postup?

You can discuss which you prefer and which button/trigger you would prefer it on.

Good looking out. I think clicking the right stick button would be easier myself, that way you don't compromise your movement with the left stick as you're getting into position. Nice to hear they're thinking of patching it too, that would be most welcome.

it would be nice if we could get a shoot with B/circle screen patched in too. or even a custom config one
Opinions are my own.

You have to admit that it is nice that the producers and game designers have had pretty good contact with the consumers. It seems to me that they are not only taking feedback from testers the invite but feedback from the community. I personally think its impressive that they are even leasting to us close to the realese date to change things (back down button and AI) that can make the game better. Not to mention the future improvements with the patch.

Make it the Y button. Change alleyoop to something else, Like Turbo plus left stick-click.

That would be a welcome improvement. They dont need to get rid of it, just like you said tone/tweek it a little.

The one thing I would like them to patch among the other things is some defensive animations on defense. For the most part, rebounds and block animations are too slow. That makes the player appear to "warp" to the ball. When performing a block, the animation happens in the exact direction your player is facing, which makes for some aweful contest animations if you are not facing the exact direction of the shooter. Plus, when trying to perform a running block from behind, all momentum appears to be lost as the player doesn't cover much ground at all.

Also, the player bringing the ball inbounds sometimes walks very slow to the ball to pick it up and very slow back to throw the ball in. I'd like that sped up a little bit.

When the camera is focused on the ball during instant replay, the camera is locked on to it and very jerky. It has been like that since 09. Make it smoother, please. It will improve many highlights.

It's certainly encouraging that things that can be feasibly fixed this year could well be addressed in a patch. Much better than everything being a case of "wait until next year".
