I don't like this, I really don't. Splitting up the controls to give us more control over what is going on near the hoop was a great thing. They took it too far with spliting the dunk/layup buttons in 07, but choosing to pump fake under the hoop instead of instantly going for a layup could prove to be near impossible this coming year.

Hopefully we won't run into issues like that since we aren't in 2002 anymore, but I am very skeptical of this method working, since the controls of NBA Live have been the most consistently good thing about the game.

Works in NBA 2k9, doesn't it?

imo, nope

mostly because of the shot stick, the one button is just an alternative

for me, I prefer Dunk&layup/shot, then one button (street/live 2003), then shot stick, then the dunk/layup/shot

I just hope they dont mess with the freestyle/quickstrike dribbling

I've also grown used to the two button approach and I feel that's the best way to go. Seperating the shooting controls into three different buttons in NBA Live 07 was overkill but the decision to force a dunk/layup or a jumpshot adds that extra layer to the control and removing it is a step backwards. I suppose it remains to be seen how it will play out, hopefully whatever they have in place with the one button (maybe a press/tap/hold system, if it's not simply contextual) works out and the other button is put to good use.

I see further NBA Street Homecourt integration with use of the tiggers or buttons as modifiers with the one button setup. Because I really can't see them trusting their engine to provide good contextual moves...

Yeah that's possible and that wouldn't be too bad, though it's kind of a lateral move when utilising two face buttons works just as well.

well Marcus gave me a reassuring post over there once I voiced my concerns, so I guess it would be better just to sit back and see what they can provide with a new system rather than fret about it....even though I was pretty pissed/annoyed with it last night

True, though I think we could be forgiven for being skeptical. However, so long as it delivers the experience we want the learning curve shouldn't be too bad.

Heres a bit more of an explaination to the 1 button system.

Consolidating the shot mechanics into one button did not come at the expense of control. In fact, you will have a great deal more control over how you shoot the basketball in every way in Live 10. I didn't really want to "announce" this change yet because it's really just a small part of the bigger design around shooting... and it will make more sense once I explain how the whole system works.

Thanks for the find, so long as the level of control over the shot attempt isn't compromised it hopefully shouldn't be a big deal.

I wonder what that free button will end up being. Pro Hop / backdown?

I certainly wouldn't mind that, especially if it's not actually coming at the expense of advanced shot control methods.

bring back off-ball switch! i'm fine with the 2 button shoot/dunk, gives me more options.

example: with tony parker on the pick-n-roll and the defense is backing up, press and hold shoot for the the parker floater..but if the defense closes up, i press dunk/lay-up.

well, we'll always adopt on what they throw in as long as we get superb and improved gameplay.

Agreed, so long as the system works and the gameplay delivers I don't mind the learning curve.
