In September 2015, Microsoft pushed through an update that disables the SECDRV.SYS service in Windows 7/8/8.1. This was done for security reasons, but unfortunately, the service is required for older games that utilise anti-piracy copy protection such as SecuRom and SafeDisc. Following the KB3086255 update for Windows 7/8/8.1, NBA Live 2000, NBA Live 2001, NBA Live 2003, and NBA Live 2004 will no longer launch on those operating systems, instead displaying an error asking the user to log in with administrator privileges (even if they're using an admin account).
This fix contains two batch files: one that re-enables the SECDRV.SYS service, and one that disables it again. This allows you to re-enable the service, which will resolve the "Please login with administrator privileges and try again" error when attempting to play NBA Live 2000, NBA Live 2001, NBA Live 2003, or NBA Live 2004. When you're done, you can use the second batch file to disable the service again.
Microsoft warns that this workaround may open your PC up to security threats, so use it at your own risk!
