Taking Flight - A MVP Baseball 2005 (07) dynasty

Hello and welcome to my Toronto Blue Jays dynasty. I have a lot of time on my hands during this summer so I got into this game very deep once again. I've started a new dynasty with the 07 mod and other updates.
I will not post a recap of every game but I will post box scores. Instead of focusing on individual games, I will concentrate on longer team-based development and news from around the league. This will hopefully result in more material with every update and less work for me without having to concentrate on so many details.
At the time that I'm writing this post, I've already played a couple of games over the first month, I'll be recapping the first month in the next post. So without further due, below you can find the info that I will update in this post during this dynasty. Enjoy reading and if you feel like you have something to say, please do reply, it's always appreciated.

The Blue Jays have had a superb start to their season with everything clicking. In the first month the team signed left fielder Matt Lawton and catcher Javy Lopez and relief pitcher Pete Walker to strengthen their lineup all around. Pitching has been on target and that has given the team's offense a lot of freedom to execute it's gameplan.




Starting pitcher Tomo Ohka suffered an ankle injury during the third week of the season and was placed on the 15 day DL, with a week of his projected healing time left after it.
Alex Rios started his season with four straight games without a base hit but has elevated his performances after that game after game, pinnacling with a 4-4 game with a home run against the Detroit Tigers.
While Roy Halladay (currently #2 in strikeouts) and A.J. Burnett are getting great numbers, the Jays' most consistent starter has been Josh Towers, who leads the team's pitchers with a 4-0 record and is tied on the secong place in the MLB. He has performed very well against the Yankees and Rangers.
Gustavo Chacin isn't performing very well. He has turned some easy games into tight situations and has been openly complaining about the team's pitching staff.




Gary Matthews Jr., Joe Crede and Manny Ramirez are tied for the lead of the home run race with 8 homers.
Johan Santana leads the league with five wins, followed by eight pitchers with four wins.
Barry Bonds has 737 home runs and is 17 shy of Hank Aaron's record.




The Blue Jays are about to start a six game road trip against the Indians and the Rangers and after that the Devil Rays, Orioles and Phillies.

Yea and you with the 1000th post

Since the last update, the Jays have gone 8-5 continuing their historic start. The Yankees and the Red Sox aren't too far behind as the tight battle for the AL Central crown continues.

After some tough games, Gustavo Chacin brought his A-game to this one and dominated the game, striking out nine batters in a complete game, 80 pitch three hitter. Toronto's batters pounded 12 hits managing to get only three runs but due to Chacin's remarkable pitching, the game was easy from start to finish, as Toronto took the game and the whole series 2-1.




Lyle Overbay was diagnosed with a sore thumb and he will be sidelined for 9 days.
Toronto's pitching squad has been superb as starters Roy Halladay (5W), A.J. Burnett (5W) and Josh Towers (6W) have yet to record a loss. Halladay leads the league in strikeouts (59) and complete games (4) while Burnett is tied for second place in strikeouts (54).
Jeremy Accardo was caught in an interview complaining about his playing time and salary pretty openly.




The press is speculating whether the Jays' organization has given Adam Lind enough playing time. So far there hasn't been enough situations to put him in due to the team's crowded OF positions.
There is some sepculations about possible trades. Players mentioned that might be given the boot are pitcher John Thompson and outfielder Matt Lawton. If a trade would happen, Toronto should probably look for an upgrade at 2nd base or the shortstop position.




The Yankees pitching rotation has taken some hits as both Carl Pavano and Chien-Ming Wang suffered injuries that were reported to keep them out of the rotation for at least two weeks.
Nomar Garciaparra has suffered an injury that will sideline him for estimated 12 days.
Chris Capuano will be out of the rotation for 20-30 days due to injury.
Gary Matthews Jr. leads the league in homeruns with 14, followed by Ryan Howard with 13.
Johnny Damon is on fire with an average of .389 and 10 homers.




Toronto will begin a series with the Baltimore Orioles in at home.

Your team is doing great. Too bad the real Blue Jays aren't doing as well .
