I apologise for the delay in this long overdue update but the NBA Live 07 DBF Editing Guides have been completed and added to the
NBA Live 07 subsite. As always the guides will be updated with corrections and additional data upon further investigation and your feedback. We'll also be looking to update some of the tutorials in the near future.

wheres your tutorial I'm a noob at dbf editing
how do u add a created player to a dbf players file?
Tue Apr 17, 2007 12:22 pm
Here's a quick run-down of how to do it using DB Commander:
1. Open players.dbf
2. Go to the last row and press the Down arrow key to begin a new row.
3. You can now enter values for each field (see the Players.dbf Guide for more info). You will need to assign the new player the next available number as his PLAYERID. For example, if the last PLAYERID is 2340, the new player's ID must be 2341.
4. Open appearance.dbf.
5. Go to the last row and press the Down arrow key to begin a new row.
6. You can now enter values for each field (see the Appearance.dbf Guide for more info). APPEARID must be the same as the PLAYERID value in players.dbf.
Be sure to make a backup before you start in case anything goes wrong.

Sir Andrew, i just wanna ask, whats the purpose of the duplicated data of players in my line up in players.dbf of my dynasty?
In my 5th season i change team from philly to magic. Upon moving i dbf edit my created player to move with me to orlando. (Force trading Dwight Howard for my created player) I only change both players team from 21 to 20 and vice versa and also switch the roster position in players.dbf. But I didnt change the second entry of Dwight( the one in team 40: Legends pool?) and when i check my line up in game i saw that the trade was succesful. I just want to know whats the purpose of those second entry and will it conflict in my dynasty that i didnt touch that upon trading?
Thanks!

my guess is that one of them is to keep track of player development.
Thu Apr 26, 2007 3:04 am
Some players are on more than one team, like the all star decade teams and the adidas and european/international teams. That's why certain players have more than one entry.
Thu Apr 26, 2007 5:39 pm
Pdub and T-Wave are both correct; those are the two reasons for multiple entries for the same player. Usually it allows a player to appear on one or more of the All-Star teams in the rosters as well an NBA team roster but in Dynasty Mode it's also used to save a copy of the player for use in the Player Development comparison screen.

So, will it have an effect on my dynasty if i didnt change the second entry? Im just afraid that it will crash my dynasty at some point.
Sat Apr 28, 2007 2:05 am
I think you will be fine. But just in case, let's say it does crash at some point. If it does, and you know it is probably the second entry, you could just go into the dbf and change the second entry to match what you did with the first entry. I don't think you need to do that, though.
Sat Apr 28, 2007 6:11 am
I tried simming the entire season to see if i'll experience a crash. Fortunately, none occur. But the problem is during the off season, all those player that have a second entry are the ones getting develop instead of the players in my line-up.

Try updating the second entry as well.
