Class of 1978-2007 Project

Sun Apr 15, 2007 12:49 pm

If you're wondering what this is, this is a project that takes the 12 best players from each draft from 1978 to 2007 and puts them on separate teams. This is NOT a project that replaces generated draft players with real draft players...it is meant to be used in season mode/playoff mode etc.

I have already compiled a 12 player list for each of the years, listed below.

Corrections and or changes (must have proof/good argument for a change) will be considered. There might be a lot of argument for who to put on the 2007 team; I may have favored including worser rated guards over forwards to ensure there was players at all positions; this years draft is full of big men. Right now I am not really worried about things such as cyberfaces or jerseys or whatever. Making ratings for all the players would be the top thing to get done. The players from most of the first few drafts are already in the game; the ratings should probably be based by a players career performance.

Just asking a question not trying to be funny but what's the point?

he is planing to do a patch with this teams... for example:

team 2005 with its year 12 choices on draft...

Sun Apr 15, 2007 2:17 pm

I got the theory, I just didn't see the point. The minute the CPU makes a trade the whole draft year team concept will get thrown out of wack. Especially when you can just put all the players from all the years in a pool and just have a fantasy season or dynasty.

Sun Apr 15, 2007 2:56 pm

yeah..i think jaiel26 has a point..

Sun Apr 15, 2007 3:03 pm

might as well make this a total-make over mod or unless u create ur own roster and make 34 custom teams.
but i really like this idea.

Sun Apr 15, 2007 6:05 pm

Jorge Garbajosa wasn't drafted I think.

Sun Apr 15, 2007 7:22 pm

Really love the idea..

Good luck!

Sun Apr 15, 2007 7:27 pm

And I like the idea.Cant wait 'till the release.

Sun Apr 15, 2007 7:28 pm

nice thing right there.
where is larry bird in 79? he go the roy how could he not be there? i know he got drafted in 78 but he played in 79...

Mon Apr 16, 2007 12:21 am

Larry Bird was Drafted in the same year as MAGIC, I think. They played the NCAA Final (Micigan St vs Indiana st) in 1979, so I think they should be in the 1979 Team.

Garbajosa wasn't drafted, it's true, but I think he will be important. He is a very good player, and he shoul be in the patch.

In 2005 Team, you can replace 1 of "Luther Head" by Calderon. He will be important in Toronto playoffs.

Mon Apr 16, 2007 12:41 am

i think its better to replace korver with ridnour

Mon Apr 16, 2007 12:58 am

no, winfis, bird was drafted in 78 by the celtics, but went back to play his senior year.

'84 vrs '96 would be the finals

Mon Apr 16, 2007 3:32 am

03 vs. 96
86 vs. 02

again, i really like this idea and if you need any help il be glad to give my support.

Mon Apr 16, 2007 3:39 am

from what i see, robert pack never got drafted.

Not really, back then you could draft a player before he "came out." If Bird hadn't signed by the next draft he would've been in the draft again. Thus, why a number of players were drafted twice back in the day.

If it's not "draft class" but "rookie class" you could include undrafted players. Of course, then Sabonis is on that 1995 team.

Real men would play with the 1988-1991 teams.

Knew that would happen...put in Jose Calderon.

Those wondering about undrafted players....they are included in the first year they began playing, it is not necessarily required that they had been drafted. Example, Ben Wallace was an undrafted rookie in 1996 so he is with the 1996 team.

However, if a guy was drafted but did not play until 3 or so years later, he is included with the year he was drafted. Example, Manu Ginobli was drafted in 1999 but didnt play until 2002, but he is with the 1999 team.

In other words, a player is included with the year they got drafted. If the player was undrafted, they are included with who they played their first season.

Also, from what I can see, all the players from the 1995-2006 drafts are already in the game, so possible things such as CF's, etc. are not needed for them.

EDIT: Ratings for 2006 and 2005 teams have been put in, so these teams are locked and their rosters will not be changed.

Tue Apr 17, 2007 12:10 pm

2004 has ratings put in and locked, feel free to make suggestions for older drafts.

Wed Apr 18, 2007 3:15 am

Wow Sabonis,I didnt know that he was drafted

He was picked 24th in 1986.

And again, a player does not have to be drafted to be included in this.

Also, 2003 has been finished and locked.

Sun Apr 22, 2007 3:08 pm

actually he was drafted twice!
