patching up your nba live 07

Since i looked and looked on these forums and still couldnt find the solution to install the patch with out having the "old file found" Error, i was wondering if i do the following it will reslove my problem.
Back up my dynasty.
Uninstall the game
Go to Regedit and remove all NBA 07 files
Install NBA with the latest offical patch 1.04.
If i do that will the patch finnaly insteal? Did some of you guys try that yet? Thanks.
