NBA All-Star Weekend 2007 - Las Vegas | Preview with Tyrus.

Image
Tyrus has been focusing on alley-oop attempts..

Tyrus Thomas spent most of the free time this week in the gym, practising different dunks. Alley-Oops, between the legs 360's etc.. He has Andre Iguodala, Kobe Bryant and Fred Jones to beat.. All of them have Slam Dunk Contest history. Kobe and Jones have a title in their award shelf at home.. Iguodala lost in a close competition to Nate Robinson. Nate will not participate this season to do personal reasons. But his replacement Fred Jones is also a showman. Tyrus is a rookie with no higher experience.. But he'll do his best.

Q : Who do you think is your biggest competition?
TT : I think it's Kobe. He's just so explosive. I hope to make the Finals, but it will be hard with him there.
Q : Why do you think you got in to this competition?
TT : Hard to say.. I mean, there are so many dunkers in this league. I'm really grateful that i got in..
Q : Great performance from you in the Rookie game..
TT : I gave everything i had that day. But Sophomores are just more experienced.. I didn't even know, i had such game.. But you don't make history alone..
Q : Who will win the All-Star game?
TT : We'll i hope the East. Two my team guys are starters.. We're really having a tremendous year. I'm glad I'm a part of this franchise.
Q : We'll, see you at the Thomas & Mack Center!
TT : See you there..

Yeah pratice is good. Hope Tyrus will win the contest. The other participants are pretty good choices by CPU

NBA All-Star Weekend 2007 - Las Vegas | Sprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk Contest

Image
Fred Jones took home his second Dunk-trophy.

4 great dunkers were invited to this years throw-down. Kobe, Iguodala, Tyrus and Fred
Jones. It was pretty hard to predict something.. Tyrus is the only one to make his first appearance.
All the others are making their second. Interesting rule changes have been made. If the ball
touches the rim - it automatically counts as a dunk attempt.. That may spoil some player chances.

Here's the first round results :

Image Image
| Tyrus Thomas | Cartwheel, Double Between The Legs Dunk | 50 |

Image Image
| Andre Iguodala | Double Pop Reverse Dunk | 42 |

Image Image
| Kobe Bryant | 360 Power Dunk | 41 |

Image Image
| Fred Jones | 360 Reverse Dunk | 49 |

Tyrus Thomas with a perfect score is the winner of the first round. Fred Jones scored 49 and came in second. Kobe and
Iguodala came in with some lower scores.. 41 and 42. Tyrus dunk will be on many highlight films. A cartwheel for start
then put the ball between the legs - twice. That's some hangtime.. He's a true athlete. But Tyrus's luck was about to turn..
To the worse.

1st Round Results :

1. Tyrus Thomas - 50
2. Fred Jones - 49
3. Andre Iguodala - 42
4. Kobe Bryant - 41

Here's the second round results :

Image Image
| Tyrus Thomas | Between The Legs Reverse Dunk - Missed | 16 |

Image Image
| Andre Iguodala | Nasty Windmill Dunk | 38 |

Image Image
| Kobe Bryant | Reverse One Handed Flush | 45 |

Image Image
| Fred Jones | 360 Reverse Dunk | 41 |

Tyrus completely failed in the second round, to do the recent rule changes. His between the legs dunk was off the rim. It
touched the rim, but Tyrus couldn't hold on to the basketball.. Kobe won the second round with a score of 45. Fred Jones scored
41 and that was enough.. Andre also had a bad score.. 38 from the judges.. Fred Jones won his second Slam-Dunk trophy..
Mostly because of his consistency. Kobe will play tomorrow in the all-star game. As a Starter.

2nd Round Results :

1. Kobe Bryant - 45
2. Fred Jones - 41
3. Andre Iguodala - 38
4. Tyrus Thomas - 19

Slam Dunk Competition Results :

1. Fred Jones - 49 + 41 = 90
2. Kobe Bryant - 41 + 45 = 86
3. Andre Iguodala - 42 + 38 = 80
4. Tyrus Thomas - 50 + 16 = 66
