Now I've seen it all!!!

Fri Oct 14, 2005 7:49 am

Okay, I spent some long hours and days tweaking the sliders to get the best out of this game. I did my best to adjust the playbooks of the teams I played with. I did my best to even adjust my game not to see the flaws of the game.

My effort was topped with a very delicate highlight - I managed to outrebound Yao Ming with the 5'9" Nate Robinson and made a two-handed tomahawk flush right in his face with this tiny buddy. And I'm not gonna give you all the silly facts & stats I have for each match, you all should know that. That's it for me guys, see you around next year, let's hope there's actually is a hope...

Oh yeah, on my way out of the game back to desktop I lost the closing cross in the upper right corner, happened to me the second time, just keep wondering wtf has EA left in store for us, this one is more than symbolic...

Can't wait to have a roster update for Live 05. It's unfortunate that a game with such a tremendous potential, which Live 06 definitely is, is in the end nothing more than an wasted effort, a very promising basketball game ruined by such major flaws. And I ain't gonna buy xbox or PS just to get NBA 2k6, I'll rather rent a gym, pick up my homies and go play some real ball... Which I actually did.

Congrats. Wanna cookie? Image

we don't need bitching and complaining from people like you. just don't post.

Fri Oct 14, 2005 11:52 am

smart on ur part to realize that if u aint high on live, u'd pick a real basketball to feel the realism

Fri Oct 14, 2005 12:07 pm

Damn that cookie looks good

Fri Oct 14, 2005 2:08 pm

omg, 1 fucking rebound and ur stopping to play? you really ARE stupid

Fri Oct 14, 2005 2:22 pm

Nate Robinson has that very uncanny ability to go aggressively to the net and put it down...

I've seen this one highlight, where his team mate has the ball down low and he goes for a hook shot, at that time Nate starts to run up to the hoop from the three point line and with the hook shot missing he just slams it home with one hand... One of the most incredible plays I've seen in a while.

And you who say that small guys shouldn't get rebounds over bigger guys... Well, you are dead wrong on that one... I remember this Iverson highlight, I think it was his rookie season. This was shot from the camera that is located behind the glass just on top of the basket. Well, a shot was put up and it failed to go in... You can clearly see three or four guys coming up for the board, all the big men and then you see a hand coming in from between those guys and just slams it home, and the guy belonging to that hand was the 6-foot Iverson...

Basketball is a great game... Size isn't everything... The smaller the guy, usually the bigger his game is and he usually plays with his heart on his sleeve and just goes out there and out works all his bigger counter parts, that's why guys like Iverson, Spudd Webb, Muggsy Bogues and Earl Boykins have had the success they've had.

You don't have to be 7-foot 300 pound guy to play basket ball... That is the beauty of it... There's always room for that 5'5" guy who can out hustle everyone else in room to get everyone excited about this game... Boykins is a real firecraker in Denver and he's a huge fan favorite out there... He just brings a lot of excitement to the floor and the smaller the guy, the more crazy his moves are... And the more energy he can pump into his team... And this is why Spudd Webb won the slam dunk championship in the eighties... He should not have been even able to dunk the ball at all... Due to his size...

true, I also realised it's useless to post here when moronic reactions like these is the only thing to expect. Sadly though that some of you can't even read properly, or just don't seem to understand the entire context. I think I wrote I played with the sliders for endless hours and matches, something we all do pretty well since Live 04. And also I think it's just quite stupid from you to assume that I quit the game just because of one nonsense dunk. It was ment to say that this was the very last moment the game pleased me with before I gave up on it completely.

Concerning the perception of realism - I discussed this here many times and people still can't seem to unite in it quite good. I take it this is a PC game and don't expect it to be realistic. We're all just looking for a SOLID game of basketball, that's well playable and makes fun. Live 06 is definitely not the one to fulfill this, to me (and tons of other people in this site) it's just a frustrating wasted effort.

No matter how sick we are from Live 05, if we wanna play some ball on PC, Live 05 remains the only acceptable option...

Fri Oct 14, 2005 4:10 pm

for fucks sake, are you fucking retarded?

And also I think it's just quite stupid from you to assume that I quit the game just because of one nonsense dunk.

now what the fuck is that supposed to mean then? if an assumption ISNT found that you're quitting nba live 06 because of the rebound and dunk, then i dont know what the fucking assumption is meant to be.

It was ment to say that this was the very last moment the game pleased me with before I gave up on it completely.

so fucking say it - dont whinge when you write the wrong thing, and then see other people read it not knowing that your thoughts are different to your post.

I discussed this here many times and people still can't seem to unite in it quite good.

you want people to read all your posts before replying to one of them?

Fri Oct 14, 2005 4:36 pm

Laxation, the only reason I see for you to start picking on me is out of your own desperation. I just wanted to share my disappointment from the game, there are loads of other posts where people complain about the game in a much worse game. The only thing I said is that I tried my best with the sliders and the playbooks, my frustration went up and down for days for tons of other reasons and the cherry on the cake (as we say it in my language) was the very moment with Nate Robinson. Regarding what Metsis said - I don't doubt at all the fact the he has an uncanny ability to dunk in real life, but in Live 06 I can pretty much do it with him every 5 minutes right in traffic. The one I did was over Yao and Stromile in fact.

Fri Oct 14, 2005 4:46 pm

im not picking on you, ive been bitching at pretty much everyone who hangs shit on this game for stupid reasons. yours was a stupid reason.

Fri Oct 14, 2005 4:59 pm

OK Laxation, if you believe so then be it, possibly I didn't express myself the right way too. I tried to say too much in too little. Nevertheless, my point stays the same.

Heh, there's another funky moment that just came to my mind from the very game where I did the insane dunk - somebody threw an alleyoop pass to Stromile Swift, who was standing under the basket all by himself, then he, instead of catching it right there and finishing it with a dunk or a layup started to run away from the basket towards the passer as if to catch the ball as soon as possible and fired the ball while being completely backwards to the basket some 3-4 meters away from it and he actually made it.

Yes this game is far from a sim but I am having a fun time playing it. I have no regrets throwing down the cash. I would do it again.

Sat Oct 15, 2005 2:41 am

lets remember how AI posterised Camby!!! that was unreal.

It's feasible that Nate could do that to Ming, given that Ming cant jump.

i don't think that's the point here. The point is the example he gave, is just one and i have had a hundred like thatone in all the games i played. too easy to do shit on offense and defense sucks in comparison to live 2005.

However my sliders took away a lot of my problems witt he game. Not all of them, but a lot of them.

The stupid thing is, that guys keep protecting the game eventhough it isn't what it is supposed to be. The thing peeps here say is: YOU SHOULD BE HAPPY THERE IS A NBA LIVE THIS YEAR. Get the fuck out of here with that bullshit. I rather have a good product than a bullshit product. This years live is just mediocre and that is a fact. The real ball players who play in real life and watch nba games and enjoy the game of basketball, know what i mean.

Personally i'm enjoying the game a little more now than when i first had it. it's a little better than 2005, but not much and that is why i play it now. But when i get tired, i'm gonna play 2005 again online IF the servers are still there. Cause at least the online games on 2005 were good.

Sat Oct 15, 2005 3:27 am

oh noes!!11 a 7'7 oaf with no hops lost a rebound to an aggressive 6 footer. Throw the game away! it's so unrealistic!

It happens bro. happens a lot. Just go ask Sean Bradley.

I really dont know why USERS are complaining about their total dominance in the game, according to the thread author, he did some crazy shit wit Stro, well wats the one way to stop dat bs?DONT IMPLEMENT DAT OFFENCE INTO UR GAME, geez rebounding problem?the only time rebounding is a problem is wen CPU gets a tip-in, usually its followed by 2-3 more, other than dat, I get my fair share of boards and so does the CPU..its just a shame dat ppl are USING the same sliders as live 2005 and expecting the game to be the same, well it WONT be, so for all the live 2005 heads, do not expect to use THE SAME sliders u played with in live 2005 to work in live06,not happening....sometimes i wonder if maybe im the only one who gets the good copy of the game or the fact dat my refurbished xbox gives me quality graphics, i played 3 full seasons in nba live 2005 all 12 min quaters,i never once used the intervene simulation and from the first time i popped in llive 06,i could tell a HUGE difference, from gameplay to Defence to offence, there was tremendous improvement,i dont see why ppl are complaining because EA has made a game dat ACTUALLY makes the user feel HES IN CONTROL OF EVERY PLAY.....sliders sliders sliders dats all i can say

Sat Oct 15, 2005 3:44 am

Bitch,bitch,bitch..
I don't get it live 06 have dozens of confg. options both for game and players for make the game either arcade or simulation or just like you want, so?..guys like you admit so lazy to try ?

This is basically how I feel and you know what? We got to bitch about it because EA Sports is trying make an easy money on us and the lest we can do is express our opinion on the nba-live forum. And if somebody doesnt see those major flaws, which can make you stop playing the game btw, either is blind or does not want to see them and that's the bottom line. See ya around next year, this year I'll play fifa.
