I have been playing NBA Live 2006 for nearly two weeks..
I cannot block any shot from computer in paint area even my shoot block slider is 100..
What can I only block is layer-up or dunking..
It is hell difficult to block a shot by using Yau or O'neal, which the guy who shot the ball only 6'5".. not very tall ~~..
Any skills to block a shot?
Thanks

It seems that I get mostly my blocks with the superstar trigger with the inside stoppers. I think I got 1 regular block so far on a non layup/dunk. However, I get a ton of blocks now when a guy challenges me 1 on 1. Just get the timing right for the superstar block. I was playing with Garnett yesterday and Jason Richardson challenged me twice only to be rejected emphatically both times.

When you are using a tall guy like Shaq and Yao try pressing the Block button a little late when your opponent jumps for a shot. Tall guys usually jumps higher that their hands are above the ball when trying to block a shot. Do the opposite for smaller guys, try to contest the shot a little advanced before the shot. That also depends on the height who's taking the shot.

Blocking depends on the stance of your character, say if someone drives for the hoop and your blocker is still facing his man on defense, when you block, he will jump toward where he is facing. You have to manually move him so that he faces the driving player, takes some practice. If you are late on the jump and the offensive player is in the air, that's the only time you should use the freestyle block if your player has it.
To play effective defense, try this, use your shot blocker as a roamer. Let your AI defend outside and just roam baseline to base line for drivers. If the shot clock is low and you feel like the CPU will go up for the shot, that's when you direct switch and contest the shot. Remember, before you jump to contest, try manually taking a step back first, you will be late on the jump but you will still contest the shot, the reason for this is, if you play the shooter too close and your defender has a low defensive awareness, (lower than 75) then his pixels will ghost right through the shooter and it will not count as a contest of the shot. timing and positioning is everything, just like real blocking.

The realistic part is, if your out of position, you can't contest a shot well alone block one...
