Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

Unfortunately we weren't able to get any new media but the team did answer all of our questions about the new game. Please note that recent Q&As on video gaming websites have already answered a couple of these questions.
NLSC's Q&A with the NBA Live 2006 Production Team
EDIT: Stickied. Also just like to point out we've already conducted the Q&A, not sure if I'll be able to ask some quick questions up until the release but if I can I certainly will. In any case, this main Q&A has already been done so please don't send in any questions for it.

Didn't read it yet but it seems prety lengthy and comprehensive. Good to see EA give this site the perks it deserves.

the ea guy always had a negative tone, cause whenever he was asked about anything the answer was either no, not this year, something to think about for next year or it will be in live 07. i am totally disappointed that we CANNOT HIRE/FIRE COACHES! ukhhhhh!

Consoles are eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil !

I like the new player development feature with the learning rating and work ethic and such.
Everything else leaves me pretty disappointed. Seems like once again they have put their emphasis on fancy features (freestyle superstars) and new graphics.

Imagine how that guy had to feel after the Q&A, really... He had to say in other words that they all were touching their balls for a year... and that all we expected isn't done. Has to be frustrating.
I hope that they're doing the XBOX360 game since 2003 and it will be the best basketball game ever, otherwise.... they were really scratching their bals for 4 years.

i hope that live 06 in xbox 360 is much better than the live 06 in other versions.

my main wish for nba live 06 is i want live 06 to have a different offseason than the one in live 05. i mean, come on!!! the same exact thing is not ACCEPTED!!! any changes to offseason or the calendar and pda makes me happy.

Interesting read, I like the fact that they were asked about things that we actually want (ingame saves etc) I do like these though...
Is it possible to make transactions during the NBA Draft? Can we trade the rights to players and so forth?
You will not be able to make trades during the NBA Draft.
Awell, maybe something they can consider for next year.
Have any improvements or additions been made to player development/rookie scouting in NBA LIVE 06?
We have included a couple of new features within player development these are each player has a work ethic and a learning rating. The two ratings work hand in hand. Learning is how well a player learns from the assistant coaches. Work ethic is the player's ability to stay in good shape. This feature allows rookies to grow at different rates and even have some players have weight issues over their career.
I like the sound of that

Will the user be able to view boxscores from every day of the season? Also, will we be able to view/save the results/boxscores from All-Star Weekend even if we don't get to participate in an event?
Due to memory limitations we do not allow the user to view boxscores from every day of the season. This is also why we do not show the All-Star weekend boxscores if the user doesn't participate in the game themselves.
Hmm.
Will we have the ability to save team strategies so that we don't have to adjust them every game?
Each team has their default set of team strategies based on their team style of play. You are currently required to change your playbook in order to change your plays. There are 30 plays that you have to choose from and each play is designed to take advantage of your teams personnel.

so that's a no.
The most positive aspect of this Q & A for me is that it directly asks them about certain things, not many game sites have asked them about in game saves, trading during the draft etc etc. Would've been nice if he had elaborated on certain answers though, instead of just "No.".

I hate when they answer like this:

I don't get this, is that a yes or no? I'm assuming a no, but why couldn't he just say no, then say all the other stuff, and be like "we'll have that in future versions" lol.

I made a suggestion like this in wishlists this year, their's probably others that did too, I think, so that's cool.
EDIT: I double posted and tried to delect the second one, and it was like you can only delet your own posts

A very nice Q&A Andrew
Some of the things was just a 'no' on, but that's ok I guess, many of the things they said no to doesn't really affect me anyways (Old boxscores, 2D or 3D portraits, Team rankings and so on). I did get rather disappointed about the in-game and replay saving though, since they said last year that they were hoping to have it in this year.
Some stuff sounds really nice also. I'm starting to really look forward to playing with the Freestyle Superstars. The new player evolution sounds really nice. The new fastbreak logic sounds real nice also. Also the improved computer AI sounds awesome. I'm more positive that I'll really enjoy the game than I was a week ago.
Oh yea, big thanks to the production team for taking some time for this

Hopefully they'll be kind enough to spare some more time in the future as well

3 Point challenge and slam dunk contest online are nice additions.

Beautiful Q&A.

Answered most of my questions I wanted to hear from the producers themselves. I understand the memory limitations of the current - gen so it doesn't bother me too much. Next year, I'll be starting next-gen anyways so I got my gaming plan ready.

Thanks for the interview.
But i'm disappointed, i really don't think 06 is gonna be that different from 2005. From the new videos posted a couple of days earlier and this interview, i see no major changes in Dynasty mode.

I'm getting a ps3 with NBA Live 2007. Gonna be amazing...1 more year!

Nice interview, although you could have been a little more "aggressive" Andrew.
Now 2 facts:
* I don't like being taken for a fool
* I won't buy NBA Live 06

i really really hope they prevented erroring in ea sports online!!!

The one aspect I want them to have worked on is online play. In NBA 2005 to me it seems like that in direct IP games the host wins 90% of the time (assuming both players can actually play). The lags and other disadvantages (not hitting jumpshots, strange boomerang passes etc.) for the one who joins the game are a real pain in the neck.
If early reports indicate that EA hasn't improved the game in that area, I will definitely not buy NBA Live 2006.

I'm upset about the MLE. Once again it will be difficult to sign free agents during the off-season when players are asking for max contracts.
Sat Sep 03, 2005 2:05 pm
Thanks Drew! I guess we will never see multi-player dynasties again or personalized ingame ditties! With that said, I'll still be getting the PC version. But I can't wait for the 360 version!
Sat Sep 03, 2005 2:08 pm
i was pleased with almost the entire read, then we got to the in game save question. i now dont even think i want to buy this game this year. there is absolutly no reason for this to not be in the game. oh well i guess.
Sat Sep 03, 2005 2:44 pm
The whole thing sounds negative .. "no, not this year, we are looking to implement it in future versions "
The ingame save reply was just down right stupid .. I think he meant ' we haven't worked out how they implemented it in 2000"
I'm downloading this game.. I'll buy NBA LIVE when they decide to fix the gameplay.

OMG, you all are crying about in-game saves. Just don't play that time if you don't have time....
