All About Iggy:: SLAM 84

What's up? First of all, the house is good, real good. I finally got into my new crib—it’s three stories, got an elevator and everything. I wanted a new scenery from what I had last year and I really like it where I'm at. My mom decorated it for me, so my room’s looking real nice. My brother Frank is living with me. He just got his degree from Dayton University in finance, so he got a good job with an insurance company. He’s living with me, looking out for me and keeping me humble. He played basketball in college, so he understands the game and tries to help me out with things he’s noticing. We’ve been fighting a lot, too. We fought a lot when we were little, but now we just play around and argue. I haven’t had much time to explore the neighborhood where I’m living. I know where the grocery store and the Best Buy is, and that’s pretty much all I need.

As for basketball, we just finished playing the Lakers a couple of nights ago and we are now 7-3 after ending our 3-game losing streak. I've worked very hard this summer and hopefully its showing when I'm out there playing. I've been trying to elevate my game to where I can become a star player in this game. I have two good guys on my team that have been All-Stars throughout their careers in Iverson and Webber and I've learned alot from them. Many people are thinking that I can become a 20-7-7 guy like some of the star guards and forwards in the league. I like that feeling (laughing), but I would rather do it than hear about it which is why I keep working hard. I almost recorded my 2nd career triple double in a game this season where I was one rebound away from it but it wasn't no big deal because its a team game and I can't get caught up all to myself. Either way, I'm in the best League in the world, getting paid to play a game, and it’s fun to go out and compete every single night.

KEY MATCHUP: ALLEN IVERSON VS. STEPHON MARBURY
You won't expect that much double teaming tonight on either player because of the skill level of the matchup. Iverson and Marbury can both light it up when they get in a flow. Marbury is averaging 20.4ppg and 8.2apg for the Knicks. His shooting percentage has also went up as he shoots 48% from the field compared to 42% from last season. These two have killer crossovers so expect some action in the matchup.

INSIDE THE 76ERS
The Sixers finally came off that tough 3-game losing skid by beating the Lakers on Thursday night 94-86. Webber had one of his best games of the season with 28 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The Sixers flew over 3,000 miles on Thursday night to New York from Los Angeles which can be very tiresome. Fatigue is a key factor for tonight.

INSIDE THE KNICKS
The Knicks are off to one of their best starts since the new millenium. Marbury has took a new role by becoming the 2nd leading scorer on the team behind Jamal Crawford who is averaging 22.2ppg. It seems that hte new role is helping the team more and Marbury's shooting percentage has went up. Another connection this team has is that Sebastian Telfair, Stephon Marbury's cousin, plays behind Marbury off the bench as the backup point guard and Jarrett Jack who considers Marbury his idol and came from the same school as Marbury was drafted by the Knicks this off-season.

Korver scored 6 points off the bench in a losing effort

NEW YORK, November 19 (Ticker) -- The New York Knicks kept things the winning way with the help of some poor shooting by the Philadelphia 76ers. Kurt Thomas scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as part of a balanced attack as the Knicks took full advantage of bad shooting by the 76ers en route to a high-scoring 119-112 victory. Among the players who help continue the Knicks winning ways was Kurt Thomas, who was averaging just nine points in the first eleven games. He ended up with season-highs in points and rebounds by making 11-of-15 shots and grabbing 13 rebounds. "We are proven a lot of people wrong," Thomas said. "We practice hard against each other and we bring that same intensity out on the floor every night. We knew what we had to do."

The Knicks also picked up their defense, which had been passive in the first two games. They harassed Allen Iverson into 16-42 shooting from the field despite his 50-point effort, including 2-12 from 3-point range. "I take responsibility for not getting my teammates involved as much as I did previous games," said Iverson, who had 10 assists in the Sixers last game. "It's nothing with my teammates; it's just me." Crawford scored 24 points and Stephon Marbury added 22 and 6 assists for the Knicks as the backcourt mates are playing much better than last season. New York shot 44 percent (37-of-84).

"We wanted to make it hard for them," Knicks guard Jamal Crawford said. "We wanted to pick it up full-court and deny them. Kurt and Malik picked up the defensive intensity and had a great game." The 76ers, who have lost eight of their last nine meetings with the Knicks, got into immediate trouble in the first quarter, falling behind, 37-27. New York extended the advantage to 13 points at the end of the first half. "We came out with the energy we're supposed to come out with and that begins with your defense," Marbury said. Philadelphia outscored the Knicks 63-57 to pull within single digits throughout the 4th quarter and even took the lead with 4 minutes left, but they weren’t able to hold on.

Yep, Iverson owned Marbury with 50 points even with the bad shooting percentage, but Marbz played his average game with 22pts and 6asts so he did what he had to do.

Yea I don't know how they got him but it was through some trade during the off-season. I just happen to look at their roster and saw him on there and I thought it was pretty unique since their cousins Yea one of the good things about playing with Iverson in-game is that you can go for 50 or even 60 and it will still be realistic and the bad shooting percentage was realistic as well along with the free throw attempts.

I don't see why they would want to do that when Marbury is dedicating himself to the team this year. His FG% improved and he is now the 2nd leading scorer trying to get his other teammates involved. He is the best PG in the league remember?

Yea, I scored about 30 of the 50 in the 2nd half But I couldn't knock down hardly any 3's even when he was open. Thanks for pointing out the score switch too

That's true Lucky bastards I finally had one of those big games with AI, but the team didn't get the win On trading somebody, its like I said earlier, it really depends on the status of my team in the month of December. Right now, its too early because you don't want to make a trade just one month into the season I will try to check out some possible deals though.

I am too, I hope next time though when he has a big game that we actually win. As for the trade rumors, I see alot of people are looking for something to really happen It could most likely lead to something in mid to late December or early January. Don't really expect anything to happen soon though.

Thanks, I'm starting to get into the season now, since I've gotten through the first 10 games so things should run smoothly from now on. The main reason why I was shooting the 3's with AI because the way I score with him is by running a pick and roll and if he is open, I shoot the 3, but if he is not, I take my opponent one on one to the basket and either get the foul or go in for the layup. Let's just say all those times he was open from downtown, he missed 10 out of 12 If it wasn't for the good free throw shooting he would've probably been in the 30's.

Felton has stepped into the starting PG spot this season and is averaging 13.8ppg, 5.3rpg and 4.9apg. In the first matchup between these teams, Felton scored 17 points and dished out 7 assists, while Iverson had 33 points, 9 assists and 6 steals in the 107-99.

The Sixers are 3-1 against the Western Conference this season with one of the wins coming from the Sonics. Philly has struggled, only winning one of their last five games and all the games have been by a single digit margin, except one of them. Iverson is now leading the league in scoring with 26.5ppg and he is 2nd in the league in assists and steals.

Seattle is on a 2-game losing streak and this will be their 2nd game out of their 3-game road trip. When you play the Sonics, there will be plenty of 3-pointers attempted, but in the first meeting, they shot 5-18 from downtown. They will live and die by the long range shot.

Troy Murphy and the Supersonics had too much firepower for the Sixers

PHILADELPHIA, November 22 (Ticker) -- When you are facing the Seattle SuperSonics, trouble comes in threes. But that wasn’t really the problem in tonight’s game for the Sixers. The problem was Rashard Lewis. Lewis made 20-34 from the field for 47 points as the SuperSonics won by double digits with a 110-99 win over Philadelphia. The SuperSonics came in shooting better than 40 percent from the arc and shot 8-19 from 3-point range tonight. Surprisingly, Ray Allen, who made just 1-of-9 shots and finished with just 2 points had probably the worse night of his career. Lewis picked up the slack from Allen and he basically combined both of their averages with the 47 points he scored.

"Shard really stepped up tonight for us," Allen said. "I had a very bad game and I felt I let the team down, but that’s what you have teammates for and they backed me up by taking care of business when I wasn‘t." Allen, who was shooting 44% from 3-point range coming into the game couldn‘t knock down a single one in tonight‘s game. Seattle’s rookie Raymond Felton added 20 points for the Sonics. "It's what the defense gave us," Seattle coach Nate McMillan said. "We felt that they were a team that did a lot of clogging in the paint. We wanted to move their big guys around and spread the floor. We were able to do that. When we're knocking down shots with the number of shooters knocking down shots, then it's tough to defend. Luckily, Lewis was right on top of his game tonight and some of the players were able to feed off of his performance."

"We've developed an identity where we have guys that can play physical and play hard underneath the basket," Lewis said. "It's given us the opportunity to run, and we just had things working on all cylinders tonight as far as rebounding and assisting." Allen Iverson scored 25 points for the Sixers, who shot 3-of-6 from the arc and simply could not keep pace with the scorching Sonics. "Seattle had way too much fire power from the 3-point line. It's tough to beat that," Sixers coach Jim O'Brien said. "Even with us shooting down their star player, they just had another all-star putting everything in his hands." The Sixers only had 3 players in double figures including Webber and Iguodala who both scored 23 points apiece for the Sixers who have now lost 6 of their last 7 games.
