Los Angeles Lakers (15-10) @ Memphis Grizzlies (14-12)
Game Preview
Lakers are coming off an overtime win against the Hornets last night. Lakers struggle in that game and trailed most part of it. They needed a late quarter run to force overtime before stealing the game in extra period. Bryant had a great game finishing 1 point shy for a 40-point production. Lamar Odom was also impressive finishing with 28 points and 11 rebounds.
Memphis Grizzlies, on the other hand, are on a 2-game losing skid. All Griz starters average double figures with Pau Gasol leading the team both in scoring and rebounding. Lakers and Griz spit their last 2 games with both teams winning in their homecourt. In their last meeting, Griz jumped to an early big lead to win it despite a late run by the Lakers.
Kobe Bryant will again lead this team with Odom as his sidekick. But for Lakers to win it, they need a whole team effort as they battle against one of the deepest team in the league.
Game Recap

Mike Miller led the Griz early in the game
to pull away and have an easy win against
the Lakers
Once again, the Grizzlies jumped to an early lead, thanks to horrible shooting by the Lakers. Midway in the 1st quarter, Lakers only manage to score 2 points while allowing the Griz 16 points. Both Bryant and Odom were scoreless in this quarter and Lakers trailed by 17, 29-12 at the end of 1st period. Miller and Gasol combined for 16 points, 8 a piece to outscore the whole Lakers team. In the 2nd period, Griz continue to lead the game. Lakers, on the other hand, still can find their shooting touch as they only shot 33% in the 2nd quarter. Despite a late quarter run led by Bryant and Odom, Grizzles still hold a 44-33 lead at halftime. Miller led all scorers with his 13 points while 4 Lakers players scored 6 points each.
Lakers made an adjustment in the 3rd period and played slow-paced game. This work wonders for the Lakers as they able to cut the deficit to 4 points, 50-46. But Gasol led a run to once again extend their lead to double figures as the quarter ends. Lakers once again trailed by 11 points, 62-51 with 1 quarter left. Grizzlies up their lead to 16 early in the quarter but Lakers made a run to cut it to 10 points. That was the closest they’ve got as the Grizzlies protected their lead and win this one, 94-77. All Memphis players finished with double figures with both Miller and Williams tallied 17 points. Lakers had Bryant (15 points) and Alston (10 points) were the only players in double figures. Odom struggles and finished with 7 points.

(right) one of his only 2 points came from this fade-away jumper.
Dec 24 Sat -- Mark Moore are coming off and injury and was sideline for more than 1 month. But in this game, he showed he’s back to his old form and dominated the game against Joshua Carr. He made most of his shots from outside but also showcases some quickness going to the hoops.
Carr, on the other hand, struggles throughout the game. He only took 10 shots and made just 2 for 20% clip in the game. Those misses came just in front of the basket. He only made 1 lay-up and a fade-away shot. He also struggles keeping up defensively against Moore who showed various offensive moves
Moore had the first possessions but Carr made a great steal which gave him the possession. He goes for a jumpshot but missed it. He grabbed the offensive rebound for an easy lay-up. Moore made a great stop and made his next 3 shots, a dunk and 2 jumpshots for a 3-1 lead. Carr were able to get the ball back and cut the deficit to 2, 4-2. But that was his last basket as Moore dominated the game both from offense and defense. Carr got few opportunities to come back to the game but missed some easy shots. In the end, Moore runaway with an 11-2 win.
Moore will now advance to the 2nd round to face Rommel Ritarita.
Screenshots from the Game
Moore also shows he got range, making few jumpshots to make Carr defense guessing.
Carr's frustration was shown here, giving a hard foul to Moore.

Orlando Magic (13-13) @ Los Angeles Lakers (15-11)
Game Preview
Lakers are really struggling as of late. They lost 3 of their last 4 games including a 94-77 setback against the Memphis Grizzlies. In that game, Lakers had a bad start and never recovers. Only 2 Lakers scored in double figures with Bryant being the high man with 15 points. They also shot 36% from the field and committed 20 turnovers.
Orlando Magic, on the other hand, are on a 2-game winning streak. They also playing well, winning 6 of their last 7 games. The improved play by Dwight Howard and the steady leadership of Steve Francis helped the Magic in this season.
In order to Lakers to win this game, Bryant should play better than his previous one. Also he need lots of helped from his teammates esp. Lamar Odom, who after had a great game against the Hornets, had a very bad game against the Grizzlies. Magic will be again led by the duo of Francis and Howard.
Game Recap

Doug Christie did a good job defending
Kobe Bryant but also have a great time
in his offense.

He scored 10 of his 14 in this period while Josh Smith added 6 from the bench. Chris Mihm had a great quarter for the Lakers, scoring 10 points. At halftime, Lakers still trailed, 55-52.
After a bad 1st half, Bryant somehow recovers and helped the Lakers grabbed the lead in the 3rd period. He scored 10 points in the quarter. But Steve Francis teamed up with Josh Smith for an 11-3 run and took the lead back. The quarter ended with Magic holding a 2-point lead, 81-79. Magic started the final period on an 11-4 run to make the score 92-83. Lakers also got a big blow when Caron Butler got injured midway of the quarter. With Butler out of the game, Magic took advantage and extended their lead to 14 points. Lakers tried to comeback was the only able to cut the lead to 9. Magic then protected their lead and win this one 106-93. Lakers are now on another 2-game losing streak and loser of 4 of 5 games. Magic continue to play well and now 1 game above .500. Los Angeles Lakers (15-12) @ Boston Celtics (13-16)
Game Preview
Lakers are on a 2-game losing streak once again. Also they lost 4 of their last 5 games. In their last game against the Magic, Lakers allowed the Magic to shoot more than 55% in the field. Bryant struggles in the 1st half and despite a good 2nd half along with Mihm and Odom double-double performance, they still lost by a big margin. Caron Butler got injured in that game. He will play despite having a minor injury.
Boston Celtics are also coming of a lost, a 22 point blowout against Washington Wizards. Paul Pierce is still the scoring leader for the Celtics with Ricky Davis and Gary Payton lead the supporting cast.
Lakers need to tighten up their defense to have a better chance in winning. A great shot selection will also help this struggling team. Paul Pierce will go up against Bryant and expect a great match-up against this 2 all-star.

In the 3rd period, Paul pierce was called for his 4th foul and forced to sit the remaining of the quarter. But it was a blessing in disguise as Gerald Green, who replaced him, stepped up offensively and led the Celtics run to cut the deficit to only 2 points. Glad to see you keeping this real
Are you going to pick up your game or is it a lottery-bound year for the Lakers?
Tue Apr 12, 2005 12:51 am
LOL! Green on the Celtics...
Did Paul Pierce really only play 12 minutes due to foul trouble? That's crazy, but I don't think he could've scored an extra 17 points anyway.
