One of the best teams in the league, the Minnesota Timberwolves are
holding the third place in the Western Conference thanks to their close
Northern Division lead over the Nuggets.

Minnesota started the game strong, allowing Washington to shoot only
.217 percent from the field in the first. The Wolves shot .480 percent
and Sam Cassell and Kevin Garnet had 10 each as they opened a 13-
point lead.

Washington didn't give up that easily. They forced Minnesota to 8
turnovers in the second and Arenas helped his team with 4 assists and
Haywood with 6 rebounds as Larry Hughes' 3-point buzzer-beater cut
the chase to just 3 points at the half.

The third was very close, none of the players shined but Gilbert Arenas
was the best with 6 points. Kwame Brown surprised with 2 great steals
as Washington tied the game at 65 with 10.20 to play for the first time
after 0-0.

But Minnesota wasn't thinking of a close game. They managed to pull
away in the first few minutes and they never looked back. Cassell had
9 points and the Timberwolves dominated the boards 15-8. Only bright
side for D.C. Was Hughes' 4 steal at the end of the game but they couldn't
turn those into points.

KG finished with 24pts, 16rebs, 2blcks and 2stls, Spree was held to just
6 points, Cassell had 26. Washington was once again weak from both the
inside and outside.

Jinx??? For the second time due to problems with my screenshot utillity,
i cannot provide any pics or the box score. So unfortunately you couldn't
see the Wolves and KG in action this season. Sorry...

Transactions
Rookie Dwight Howard to Washington

Washington is currently the only team that has been a active trader.
At first they got Robert Horry and Linton Johnson from the Spurs
and now they came to an agreement with the Orlando Magic. Even
though one of their good big men Kelvin Cato is injured they agreed
to send rookie Dwight Howard and veteran Stacey Augmon to the
Wizards for big men Ethan Thomas, Peter Ramos and forward Linton
Johnson who didn't play a game for the Wizards.

Eddie Jordan gave a brief conclusion to the press: “To make it short,
in my opinion Thomas was overpaid and Ramos didn't give us the
results we wanted, we had to trade them. Linton Johnson was just
included to make the trade fair for the both teams. Stacey Augmon
is a very respected player and Dwight Howard is a fantastic rookie,
who has great potential dominating at his position in the future.”


The Washington Wizards are building a strong franchise team.

Hornets Not Even Near Wizards
Howard made a great impact right away

New Orleans better make some changes soon, or else they have no chance
at the playoffs.

It took only 5 minutes for the Wizards to break New Orleans' defense. The
new rookie power forward Dwight Howard scored 6 of Washington's 10
points as they built a double-digit lead. Arenas was making things happen,
dishing 6 assists and taking 3 steals. Robert Horry came off the bench and
pulled down 4 rebounds.

The Hornets managed to play in the same rhythm as the Wizards in the
second period, mostly thanks to Baron Davis and Junior Harrington, who
was his team's key player at the half with 8pts, 3rebs and 4asts.

Eddie Jordan must have said a lot to his team during the half-time because
the Wizards played like crazy in the third. They won the rebounds 15-7 and
allowed New Orleans to score only 10 points, Howard took down 6 rebounds
and scored 6 points as well, Arenas had 7 points.

The fourth quarter didn't change much, the Hornets puled back a little but the
difference still remained 25 points.Howard showed everyone why the Wizards
wanted him, he had 22 points and 13 rebounds. Substitutes Horry and Haywood
were good at tearing down rebounds too as they had 6 and 8 in limited minutes.

Game MVP, Arenas, was worried about the other team: “I thought it was going to
be a tough match, but i guess i was wrong. This is one of our biggest wins recently.”
B-Diddy continued on the same topic: “ Thing are awful here, if this continues,
I'm going to request that they'd trade me.”

had to take a little break and get my faulty graphics card repaired,
damn assholes kept my pc in a corner for 6 days and then fixed the
problem in few hours...

but now it's back and the dynasty can continiue!

Utah Ices Washington
Jazz neutralizes Hughes and Jamison

Utah didn't seem like a tough opponent on the paper but the game itself
didn't show the best side of the Wizards.

The match started slowly, Washington took the lead and didn't allow
the opponent to score for a few minutes. But the Jazz managed to out-
score the Wizards 13-2 in the last 3 minutes and took the lead. DC's
Antawn Jamison scored 7 of his final 11 points in the opening ten
minutes.

The second period was controlled by Carlos Boozer who collected
16 points and 7 rebounds by the half. Arenas and Howard were the
only players on the other team that managed to stand out.

Things didn't change much in the third: Kirilenko got his game going
and Mehmed Okur was rebounding great. The only numbers to
Washington's favor were the steals (Hughes 3), but they couldn't
convert them to points.

The duo of Arenas and Howard pulled the Wizard ahead right in the
beginning of the last period but it didn't last for long. Even though
every Wizard nailed at least one shot from the field, Larry Hughes and
Antawn Jamison couldn't give their usual numbers and Washington
had to accept a unexpected loss in Salt Lake City.

Kirilenko finished with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks, 4 steals and
3 assists and fairly was the Player of the Game. Arroyo was making
it all happen, he had 10 assists.

Washinton silenced Lakers
Gilbert Arenas sprained his left wrist.

The last game of January showed that the Lakers ,who are 1.5 games behind
the 8th playoff seed in the west, could miss the playoffs this season.

The Wizards were taking this game dead-serious, probably due to the loss in
Salt Lake City. Arenas led his squad with 7 points and 4 assists to a double-
digit lead. Substitute Brendan Haywood and Dwight Howard were playing good
together, some beautiful passes and dunks by both of them.

The second period started with a unpleasant situation, Gilbert Arenas injured his
arm in collision with Lamar Odom. The Wizards had lost one of their best men,
but actually it had a positive effect on Washington's game. They managed to double
their lead by halftime. Howard was the key player, he had 9 points and already 10
rebounds at the half.

Arenas returned at the beginning of the second half but after 5 minutes he decided
that he'll end it for the night. Juan Dixon had a great chance to show that he can
replace Arenas effectively and so he did. Kobe pulled the Lakers back by few points,
he scored 11 of his 21 in the third.

Jamison and Hughes combined 17 points in the last period and made sure that the
Lakers stayed behind. Odom scored 12 of his 16 in the last 10 minutes but that wasn't
enough. Kobe tried to change the way the things were going but he fouled out with few
minutes left to play. as the Wizards won 93-78. Dwight Howard was the player of the
game, even though he scored just 2 points in the second half, he had a super-fantastic
20 rebounds and 3 steals.

The press was interested if the Wizards' success would continue with Arenas injured.
“The team doctors have told me that everything is fine.” said Eddie Jordan. “Gilbert
has sprained his left wrist, but he can play. Besides that he should be 100% in a week.

Dixon did a great job replacing injured Gilbert Arenas. - - - - Odom woke in the fourth but it was too late then.


The Lakers had plenty to think about at the halftime.

Wizards defeat Mavericks
Mavs cold in the third

Washington and Dallas are at the moment both at the top of the table, that's
why it promised to be an exciting one right from the start.

The Wizards had changed their usual starting lineup and brought on Robert
Horry, who probably had a special assignment to keep Dirk out of the game.
Antawn Jamison was shining against his former teammates, he scored 10
of his 22 points in the first quarter. Mavericks remained one-sided, 19 of
their first quarter points were scored by the trio of Finley, Stackhouse and
Armstrong.

The second period was pretty much played by the same script. The Mavs
managed to cut the deficit and take the 3-point lead at the half .The two
players who stood out were Michael Finley, who had 16 at the half, and
Dwight Howard who had 8 points and grabbed 10 boards in the first half.

The Wizards brought on the heat in the third. Even though they were only
.500 percent from the line, the ball was moving on offense and they grew
a solid 7-point lead as Arenas scored 11 of his 22 points in the third. The
Mavericks' 18 points were once again scored by only three men.

Nowitzki's game opened late in the game, as he scored 9 of his 17 points
in the fourth. Washington's' game was led by Larry Hughes and Antawn
Jamison as they combined 20 points. Despite of all attempts the Mavs
couldn't catch up and lost by 10.

Dwight Howard earned the honor of being the Player of the Game with
18 points, 14 rebounds and 2 blocks. Michael Finley led Dallas with 29.

Antawn Jamison told the press that this game proved a lot. “Some have
said that we have a great win-loss percentage because we have played most
of our games against weaker teams. This one said it all. The best shooters
in the league couldn't beat us! Here's a message to all: Be aware!”

Hawks fly past Wizards
Barry's late heroics save Hawks from a defeat.

The Atlanta Hawks just haven't been playing basketball good this season and
the Washington Wizards is one of the top teams in the league. Nobody would
have guessed the result of this one.

The Wizards and Dwight Howard opened big. The visitors went ahead as
Howard scored half of his points in the first quarter. Hughes and Jamison
had their share in holding the lead (7 and 8 points). Atlanta's Al Harrington
kept his team alive and pulled the Hawks closer in the last moments of the
period.

Atlanta took over the game in the second as Kenny Anderson stepped up.
The Wizards' back court was making a lot of mistakes handling the ball.
The Hawks were rebounding strong and left the Wizards no chance. The
key players at the half were Anderson with 14 points, 5 assists and Jamison
with 12 points and 4 rebounds.

Atlanta started the second half with a little run, they took a 10-point lead.
Washington woke late in the third, they cut the deficit to 2. Robert Horry
and Dwight Howard were cleaning the boards and it seemed they were
back in it.

The quarter break didn't change anything, the Wizards opened 9-0 thanks
to Hughes and Arenas. The game looked done with 6.34 on the clock, but
it wasn't. Atlanta made a great comeback as Al Harrington and Jon Barry
put on a shooting streak that gave them a 98-93 victory.

Kenny Anderson, POTG (25pts, 6asts, 3stls), praised the duo: “I thought
we had no chance, but Jon's great 3-pointers down the stretch put us back
in it. He should have been the Player of the Game. I hope this will be a
start for a new winning streak.

Wizards wipe out Clippers
Guard Gilbert Arenas all over the place.

The Washington Wizards were on a 5-game winning streak at home and
they showed the audience that this one will last for a while. Their last period
defense sent a strong message to everybody that will have to face them this
season.

The Wizards opened the game with a 12-2 run and looked strong right away.
Luckily the Clippers caught up in few minutes and made it to a 2-point deficit.
Antawn Jamison scored all of his nine points in the first and helped Washington
to finish the quarter with a 9-2 run to make it 29-23.

The Wizards dominated the second period, but couldn't make the shots. After
grabbing 20 boards of 27 they still managed to loose the period 16-14. Big part
of Los Angeles' success was Elton Brand's great defensive work, he blocked 4
shots during the last minutes of the half. Kwame Brown was the best rebounder
at the half with 9 boards.

The Clippers lost their last chance at the beginning of the second half. They could
stop Larry Hughes and Antawn Jamison from scoring, but Gilbert Arenas dropped
27 points and dished 7 assists in the second half. Los Angeles was in trouble with
scoring against the strong defense put up by the opponents and had to accept the
19-point defeat.

Arenas finished with 36 points, 10 assists, 7 rebounds and 5 steals, as the best
Californians were Maggette with 19 points, 5 rebounds and Brand with 12 points,
8 rebounds and 6 blocks.

All-Star Starting Lineups
Where are the superstars?!?

With just a week before the All-Star Weekend the NBA has announced
the starting lineups for the 2005 NBA All-Star Game and the got milk?
Rookie Challenge.

The absence of Shaquille O'Neal, who has injured his toe, will greatly
affect the All-Star Game, but the biggest surprise is Lebron James, who
isn't listed on neither of starting lineups. And neither Kobe Bryant,
Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter nor Allen Iverson is listed in the starting
lineups for the 54th annual All-Star game. Hopefully the coaches will make
the right decisions for the fans and include the stars to the All-Star Weekend.


Some of the biggest names are missing, will these guys be as good?


Who will be better? The Rookies or the Sophmores? Who will be the MVP?

Sixers out of touch
Iverson not at usual level.

The Philadelphia 76ers were in a tough place as they came to Washington DC
to face the Wizards who currently have won 6 in a row at home.

The 76ers didn't look worried, they took the lead right away, Allen Iverson took
care of his teammates (3 assists) and Green scored 8 as Philadelphia won the
first quarter 24-18.

Washington turned the things around in the second. Kwame Brown who scored
all of his points in the first half was his team's key-figure at the half. Gilbert Arenas
managed to keep Iverson to just 5 points as Willie Green led the Sixers with 13
first half points.

The Wizards kept the things running the same way and gave the Sixers no chance
to catch up. Iverson had 7 in the third but that wasn't enough for Philadelphia.

Arenas was once again strong in the second half, he scored 26 of his 30 in the last
20 minutes and shot 5-of-8 behind the arc in the fourth quarter. Hughes was the
point guard this time, he had 10 assists in the game.Howard (6) and Dalembert (8)
were cleaning the offensive rebounds, both had total of 14 boards.

AI on the game: “It was a tough night for us. The beginning was good but rest of the
game was just awful. The defense was so tight that it was almost impossible to score.
I think that this is the first time this season we have scored less than 80 points.” Eddie
Jordan cheered his team: “This is home court advantage! Players just give their best,
no matter if its offense of defense, I'm glad we managed to defeat one of our biggest
rivals.”
