Talk about NBA 2K14 here.

Which of them should I get? I am only interested in franchise mode with as few bugs as possible. There should be no flaws in between seasons...and cpu generated rookies should work well, too without having to edit them manually.

2K14, by far. You have to use a roster update if you don't want generated rookies to be screwed up (and to get The Doctor - if you care), new controls are - in my opinion - bad and the old controls option breaks alley-oops and flashy passes, but otherwise this is clearly the best choice. You can play defense (but prepare for the CPU going to the paint every single possession) and rebounding is slightly less atrocious than in 2K13, while your teammates are a bit smarter all-around on both ends - at least in 5v5 gameplay. I'd say My Career is slightly better in 2K13, but you said you're only interested in Association. I've seen a few $0 team option contracts, but this was in 2K13 as well.
2K13 would have been great if it wasn't for some tiny details: the game makes any and all attempts to play defense a nice little exercise in futility. Even if the ball actually goes right through your hand, you won't get a block. It also has the worst, most cheesy, CPU-favoring and just complete bullshit rebounding I have EVER seen in a basketball video game. The CPU offensive mindset also makes this game a tale of the eternal fastbreak - they run after every single defensive rebound (and sometimes even after a score, they inbound it to the PG who heaves the ball all the way up the court for a dunk). There's also a minor annoyance coming from replays being broken.
2K12 is just a complete piece of trash and I'm not willing to waste any time writing about it. It's unfortunate because it had the most legends, classic teams, retro presentation and all that stuff. Absolutely unplayable, avoid it like fire.
