Presentation (Commentary) F-

Sun Dec 11, 2011 3:26 pm

For a long time people have been gushing over the naked Emperor's clothes that is 2K12's commentary.

Here's an example of F- commentary.

This is in an association with the young MJ on the modern Bulls. In order to re-sign Rose, a lot of salary dump trades were made. The Bulls starting 5 is Rose, Jordan, Danny Granger, JJ Hickson and Hibbart. I play locked onto Rose. Jordan led the league in scoring (32.2 PPG). Through a first round playoff win over the Knicks and a 3-0 lead over the Celtics Jordan was 2nd in playoff scoring to LeBron who was over 40 PPG. Jordan was injured in a game 4 loss to the Celtics, and he's out for at least two weeks.

In game 4 the Celtics built up a 12 point first half lead. Jordan and I (Rose) led the Bulls in a 3rd quarter comeback to a 3 point lead entering the 4th quarter. But Jordan was hurt early in the 4th, and the Celtics won.

I turned on commentary in game 5 to hear what the announcers would say about Jordan's injury.

F- Commentary Part 1: The announcers made no mention of Jordan's injury, no mention that the Bulls would miss him or that the Celtics would now have a better shot at winning the remaining 3 games. Surely if a top player is lost in the playoffs, announcers mention it.

F- Commentary Part 2: The announcers mentioned game 4, saying the Bulls had come out flat in the first half then hadn't come out of the gates in the second half like they would have wanted. They claimed the Bulls had been just as flat to start the second half as they had been to start the first half. But the Bulls came out hot in the second half of game 4, cutting the deficit to 5 points in the first few minutes before eventually taking a lead as the half ended. The commentary was the opposite of what really happened.

This commentary emperor isn't just naked. He has no skin.

Didn't you post something similar to this already a few weeks back?

Found it.

Do you really need to make a new thread for this?

This post was about a specific game/situation.

If I posted another topic about presentation, does it mean the announcers not mentioning Jordan's injury is terrific presentation?

Both of the threads are about Presentation. Specifically about the announcers.
And your previous thread also had examples of specific situations.

What's the difference between this new thread and the old one?

You could have posted your new commentary on your previous thread since it's basically the same topic.

You can even post the original post of this thread in three other threads - your previous thread, the bugs/glitches thread, the impressions thread.

I repeat my question:

"What's the difference between this new thread and the old one?"

It's about a different situation. I didn't remember the old thread, and created a new one.

Is the presentation terrific?

Also, don't give too much weight in those reviews. You know those reviewers only spent a few hours playing the game before they write their review.

fjccommish wrote:It's too much to bear. The announcers have to be turned off in order to enjoy the game.
From the first thread but the answers still apply to this 'new' problem. Or any sports videogame that has commentators for that matter.

fjccommish wrote:Presentation - Emperor Has no Clothes

Every review of 2K12 talks about the fantastic presentation, specifically referencing the announcing.

For something that aggravates you like the game's presentation you sure do forget about it really fast.

I forget about it because I turn off the commentary.

When Jordan was injured, I turned it back on expecting to hear some talk about the injury.

Ok then.

If the thread didn't interest you don't read it. But don't litter it with ridiculous emoticons.

The point is valid. There are hundreds of mentions and awards for the terrific commentary. So two threads with the opposite point isn't a lot. The commentary gushing is based on pre-recorded personal stories that aren't valid in the season and career modes.

In reality the commentary often has nothing to do with what's happening on the court.

"They didn't come out fast in the second half last game" makes no sense when they erased a ten point deficit.

Not mentioning the league's leading scorer, 2nd in the playoffs, being out is F- material.

There are plenty of threads in which people complain about what others post. There's no reason to litter another thread with trying to tell someone what to post and what not to post.

How would I know if a thread would interest me if I didn't read the OP?

Your point is valid, whoever said it isn't? About that mentions and awards thing:

Also applies to it.

Your two threads are opposing points? No it's not. :?

I'm not saying not to post, I was asking why you created a new thread for something that you have already posted before for a topic that seems to legitimately aggravate you about the game and you seem to have the memory of a goldfish to even remember that you hate it considering you have been playing the game more than I do. (which is a fallacy, that goldfish memory thing)
Like I said you could have posted it repeatedly in three other threads...

I don't even have any gripes anymore with your new thread since you answered clearly...

The only reason I replied now is you seem hurt by one emoticon (and that linked pic) I used to express my disbelief at someone who...

If you don't like the way I initially posted my disbelief, then :boohoo:

Yes, my two threads are opposing points to "WOW, that commentary is tremendous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" which has been repeated too many times to count.

One is too much?

Seriously, this is the only post that says commentary is awesome (since the game was released, not developer insight hype replies)

Got it. All the while I thought you were saying that your two threads oppose each other's points.

Carry on undressing then skinning the emperor.
