Tough loss. Who will start for LeBron if he is still injured for Game 2? Gerald Green? He played great during Game 1.

Kobe Leads Lakers to Game 1 Victory
Posted: 21/5/2009 10:57:00 PM

Kobe Bryant led his team to a huge Game 1 victory over the Kings in front of a ruckus Arco Arena. He finished with a double-double with 34 points and 10 assists and also added 4 blocks.

"This is a great start for us," said Bryant. "Three more wins and we are back to the NBA Finals."

Bryant was not alone in his quest as Pau Gasol also had a splendid evening with 22 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists. Veteran point guard Derek Fisher added 24 points while forward Lamar Odom scored 16.

LeBron James Out 2-3 Weeks
Posted: 21/5/2009 07:45:00 AM

NBA star LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers will miss the rest of the Eastern Conference Finals. The injury occurred at last night's game when James' foot landed awkwardly on the foot of a Bobcats player.

James has been diagnosed with a broken bone in his right foot and will be sidelined for at least two weeks.

The injury doesn't seem to be that serious and that surgery won't be needed but it does hurt Cleveland's chances of returning to the NBA Finals. If Cleveland can somehow advance to the Finals then they might get James' services back in Game 2 or 3 of the NBA Finals.

Damn, this sure sucks. I think you have the pieces to make it without Lebron. But in the finals, where most likely Kobe is waiting, you'll need him.

As Martti said, maybe you can make some adjustments here in the East Finals, but in the Finals, Kobe will rip you if LeBron isn't there :P

Yeah, I'll start Green.. Hopefully he can fill some of the scoring the team will miss from LeBron..

I have good players but the talent on the Bobcats roster is such a tough matchup.. Everybody needs to step it up a notch if we are going to beat them..

A showdown with the Lakers without LeBron will be a massacre... But i've done the Math and looks like I'll have him back at around Game 2 or 3, IF I'll make it past the Bobcats..

XpLosibo wrote:somebody needs to step up.. penny hardaway's time to shine one more time (Y)

I'll be playing Penny more minutes now that LBJ is out, hopefully he can deliver the goods..

Kobe's 44 Leads Lakers to a Commanding 2-0 Lead
Posted: 23/5/2009 09:35:00 PM

The reigning MVP Kobe Bryant continues to shine in the playoffs as he led the Lakers to another win against the Sacramento Kings. Bryant had another double-double with 44 points, 15 assists, 4 blocks and 3 steals.

Sacramento just couldn't find a way to stop The Black Mamba. Not even Ron Artest, a known defensive specialist, can stop him.

"He is definitely one of the toughest players to guard," said Artest. "I guess I need to be more physical with him and try to tire him up on our next game."

Spanish star Pau Gasol continues to show his all-around skills as well, finishing with 25 points, 11 assists and 7 boards while versatile forward Lamar Odom had 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 blocks.

Camby contemplating on retirement?
Posted: 23/5/2009 09:05:00 AM

Former Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Camby who has battled injuries throughout his career was reported to be thinking of permanently hanging up his basketball shoes.

According to sources, the 34-year old center who also played for the Toronto Raptors and the New York Knicks, has been playing through pain in both of his knees all season long. Camby's agent told media that Marcus is now consulting his family regarding the issue.

Camby averaged 11.2 rebounds and 2.20 blocks per game including career-high in points (18.8 ppg) last season.

"I hope he returns," Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony said. "He is an important part of our team and he'll be a huge loss if he decides to retire."

Hopefully having home court will give you some momentum. I would try starting Sasha Pavlovic. It doesn't seem like Gerald is ready to take on LeBron's role.

Damn, it's hard to believe that Camby might retire. I forget that he's already 34, he doesn't seem that old considering how many games he's played throughout his career.

It seems like you were forcing the issue a bit with Penny Hardaway and Green that game. I'm usually guilty of doing the same thing (forcing players that I want to succeed by force-feeding them the ball), but I find that if you show a little patience they'll eventually get their game going themselves. Good luck on your next game.

I guess it was way too much to allow for just 2 players.. Without LeBron this team also loses its character, the injury really came at a bad time..

thierryhenry50 wrote:Okafor was a monster for the Bobcats  LeBron must recover ASAP!

But as the Injury Report said LBJ is out 2-3 weeks so having him back in this series is impossible.. :(

XxCavaliers wrote:Hopefully having home court will give you some momentum. I would try starting Sasha Pavlovic. It doesn't seem like Gerald is ready to take on LeBron's role.

I really think that Sasha will thrive more if he comes off the bench, he'll get more opportunities to score with the second unit..

Thanks bro.. Nice to hear from you again.. :D

Yeah, I am also hoping that the Camby rumor isn't true..

So you noticed that too.. :D
Well, I guess I did force the issue with Penny, I'll have to take your advice and just let the game come to him..

NBA Draft Lottery 2008

Detroit Hits the Jackpot, Wins Top Pick
Posted May 24 2008 7:01PM

SECAUCUS, NJ, May 24 – The Detroit Pistons won their first draft lottery and they didn't even need to have the worst record in the NBA. Joe Dumars, who represented the Pistons in the lottery, once again proved why he is one of the wisest GM's in the NBA.

Memphis' pick was first traded to the Charlotte Bobcats for forward Jermareo Davidson, a deal which was questioned by Grizzlies fans because they were probably giving away a potential lottery pick for only a seldom used player. Then after a month, Dumars surprisingly convinced the Bobcats management to take aging point guard Lindsey Hunter in exchange for Memphis' pick.

"We are excited for the upcoming draft, there are a bunch of players we're currently looking at," Dumars said. "We have a talented draft pool with the likes of OJ Mayo, Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley, we have a tough decision to make."

The Orlando Magic, who had the best chance (25%) to land the top selection will pick second, followed by the Timberwolves and Suns.

The following are the results from the 2008 NBA Draft Lottery, which was conducted Saturday at NBA TV’s studio in Secaucus, New Jersey. The Detroit Pistons, who had a 3.6 percent chance of obtaining the first selection, will have the first overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, which will be held in New York City at The WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, June 26, 2008.

    2008 Draft Order
    1. Detroit Pistons (from Memphis)
    2. Orlando Magic (from Oklahoma City)
    3. Minnesota Timberwolves
    4. Phoenix Suns (from Philadelphia)
    5. Milwaukee Bucks
    6. New Jersey Nets
    7. Sacramento Kings (from Portland)
    8. Atlanta Hawks
    9. Toronto Raptors
    10. New York Knicks
    11. Miami Heat
    12. Houston Rockets

So I guess you've secretly already completed the season. :cheeky: Since you can't see the lottery until the season is over.

But on topic - Dumars is a genius. Trading Hunter for No. 1 pick in the draft. :D

Yeah.. And they could only get stronger with this number 1 pick.. I'll definitely have a hard time playing them next season..

hehe.. I guess you are right.. I actually finished the season during the 2 or 3 weeks I was gone.. Hunter for Rose, Beasley or Mayo, damn that sure was a steal for Detroit.. they'll get even stronger no matter who they pick..
