woah, that took ages....glad to be finally done (Y)

all-star coverage has been good, but time-consuming at the same time, hope you guys appreciate it....still have All-Star game to go, there back to usual....

btw, sorry if pics aren't that great... :(

as always, :chug:

EDIT: Go back to page 5 for Slam Dunk Coverage

Thu Mar 10, 2005 10:23 pm

Nice recap as usual.... and I'm glad my man won this one

Cant wait for the all-star coverage...

Thu Mar 10, 2005 10:29 pm

Nice job The X, I just read it and I like it very much... (Y)

Thu Mar 10, 2005 10:38 pm

cheers guys....I wasn't originally gonna do All-Star recap, but positive feedback from rookie game as inspired me to play....I'll play game and recap over next day or two once work is finished for the week....

Fri Mar 11, 2005 9:23 am

damn, kobe won.. he wins too much.
good coverage, i guess you had to conserve some bandwidth and loading time on that 5th page by making the images smaller, nice job nonetheless

Fri Mar 11, 2005 11:33 am

this competition was rigged, I demand the contest be re-done..... :P ...K-Mart was robbed just like JR was :x

anyway great stuff man.....nice artwork and you certaintly have good text to photo comparisons.....very witty and intelligent :D

Fri Mar 11, 2005 6:52 pm

yeah, I was disappointed to see Kobe win but overall I think he deserved it....it would have been nice to see LBJ make it through as I'm sure he had a few tricks up his sleeve....K-Mart was great and was very, very unlucky not to win it all....

cheers for compliments, esp. trez, always good when people pick up on some of the wit....some of it is plainly obvious but I plant some non-obvious ones in there....

now week is over for work :hump: I will play the All-Star game tonight and prolly do update tomorrow....

another retrospective moment:

...from the annals of the 2005 Birdie Project: (info)
The X's Bobcats 2005-06 mid-season Birdie Breakdown:

Image

So, although the Bobcats are starting to be a more balanced attack, Okafor is still the man they count on night in; night out- earning his 6th team MVP recognition with a weighted birdie score of 19.33 and his 'reversible' Live Card Will be enabled.

The competition gets fiercer:
This Dynasty instance is currently ranked #22 on the 2005 Birdie Board.
(but still NO PENALTY POINTS being assessed, awesome!)

For the complete 'Birdie Breakdown', click here.

The X: Hey, The X...I'm slowly trying to get back into the swing of things here! Okay, since this is your '6th' Team MVP Card for Okafor and now understanding your rockin' sense of humor and creativity, please give me a cool 'one-liner' that I can add to the front of his card, instead of my usual, "A good defender..." default thingy...let me know.

Also, let me know when you get to 3/4 of the way through the season!
and um, give me two weeks and we'll get that synopsis semi-functional! - Honor Glow ...thanks for your support!

Fri Mar 11, 2005 11:57 pm

HonorGlow, good to see you venture back here :D am close to 3/4 mark and will email pstats when I get there....

also, since you are reading this, need your profile for your guy and if you suggest a headshape I might be able to get him looking a bit more like you....

and as for something funny....I'm more a play-on-the-situation type of guy....nothing staged, but either way, here goes a one-liner....

'Meka goes at the ball like a 'Cat on heat

I'll give you more when I think of them....never rush genius

ALL-STAR COVERAGE ('05/06)

ALL-STAR GAME

Well first-off I was playing the game and about mid-way through the game it freezed....I couldn't be bothered starting game again so I simmed the result, but will give a pic recap of this year's showcase event.

Let's check out who made it into this year's All-Star teams. Let's start in the East.

Image

Joining the starters that were voted in are rival bigmen Ben Wallace (Pistons) and Jermaine O'Neal (Pacers) who have both successfully returned from season-long suspension last year that crippled their respective team's chances of championship glory.

Misfit swingman Ricky Davis (Celtics) joins fellow Bostonian Paul Pierce for his 2nd straight All-Star appearance. Sharpshooting guard Michael Redd (Bucks) gets his 1st call to the big time. Leading the Knicks to last year's title is enough for PG Stephon Marbury (Knicks) to push his way onto the All-Star bench.

Rounding out the roster is former Tarheel forward Antawn Jamison (Wizards) and the shock inclusion of forward Keith Van Horn (Bucks). How KVH beat out LBJ I'll never know. :?

And now the All-Stars from out West....

Image

Centre Brad Miller (Kings) brings his passing skills and tenacity to this year's All-Star game. He's partnered in the frontcourt with Tim Duncan (Spurs), who can take anyone out of a game quickly with his superb fundamentals.

The 1st major shock in the West is fragile forward Mike Dunleavy Jr. (Warriors) graduating to the big-time. Who woulda guessed?!? He's joined by high-flying teammate Jason Richardson (Warriors) at guard. Steve Nash (Suns) will back up at PG as he continues his solid play.

Rounding out the squad are international SF's Peja Stojakovic (Kings) and Andrei Kirilenko (Jazz). Talking of international forwards, where the heck is Dirk Nowitzki?!? :?

The result of the game was....

Image

Based on how the game was going when computer went down, I'll give Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony co-MVP honours for the game. Bryant had 17 points in 1st quarter and 'Melo was heating up bigtime in the 2nd quarter.

And some highlights from the game....

Image
Garnett wisely didn't contest this monster dunk from Shaq. Can't say the same for Kobe and Brad Miller. The results speak for themselves

Image
Move aside boys, Russian Mafia coming through

Image
Whilst talking about Garnett, he clobbered Marbury in the lane. Guess he still has hard feelings towards Starbury.

Image
Duncan must have had paid off the front couple of rows of the crowd. Standing ovation for that dunk, come on

Image
Someone forgot to tell Ricky Davis that he is suppose to start the celebration dance AFTER he finishes the dunk

Image
Is it just me or does Yao not trust his height adavantage over Shaq?!?

Image
Melo might expose more than Steph's cheap tricks if he doesn't move that arm

Image
If Jermaine's not careful, he's gonna end up with one helluva dental bill

Image
Dunleavy takes advantage of 'Toine to get on the board

Image
I'd usually give Nash props, but he should take a leaf out of Kidd's book and shave those horrid locks

Image
Jefferson thinks sees that his team actually has a chance to win a game, unlike his last couple of seasons in New Jersey

Image
We get the idea JRich, you wrongfooted Pierce

Image
Pierce admires Melo's superb hops but at the same time wonders why he's showing them off when he's already scored on him. The Truth hurts I guess

Image
Redd seems more intent on playing ball rather than joining in on his fellow All-Star's hijinks

Image
Miller's laughing all the way to the bank as he once again got an All-Star spot and C-Webb and Bibby once again missed out

Image
The shocked look on his face is because B-Diddy thought he was only coming to ASW for the Skills challenge

Image
Jamison was one of many to walk all over Yao

Image
Peja uses Jedi Mind Tricks to coerce the ball towards the hoop

Image
He might not be what he was, but he is still one of the best

Image
Don't worry Keith, we're just as shocked as you that you're here. Look at KVH watch intently as he makes a layup like he was back in grade school

Image
This had to be one of the quietest All-Star game from a past year's MVP ever. Toine camped on the 3pt line for the game

Image
I pity the fool. One guy never to mess with

Image
Kobe to Dunleavy: "Take up some ballet like I did and you can pull off moves like this"
Dunleavy: "WTF?!?

That's All-Star Weekend done although it felt more like a week :eh:

hope you all enjoy this last instalment....back to the grind of the season (Y)

I'll probably have February recap some time over next week I'd imagine and will start to get rookie scouting updates happening soonish....

Sat Mar 12, 2005 2:48 am

I loooove it, I like especially the Jedi Mind Tricks by Stojakovic. (Y)

Sat Mar 12, 2005 3:24 am

nice nice All-star recap...
Yes your all-star weekend seems like All-star Week but if you remember my All-star weekend became All-Star month

An kobe really like the All-star break winning the Slamdunk and All-star MVP!!!

Sat Mar 12, 2005 3:51 am

lol sweet recap......again love the witty subtitles under the pics (y)....

Ricky Davis n Mike Dunleavy all-star.......what has the NBA(in X's dynasty) come to :miserable:

n Duncan came off the bench.......terrible terrible :x

wait a sec........Vince Carter didnt make the all-star game....wooooooooordddd...

well lets see if the all-star break can mean a change in flow of the Bobcats performances....

Sat Mar 12, 2005 5:10 am

Peepz, where the hell was T-Mac? Going on holiday or something?

Great story and I must say, some of the subtitles are hilarious..

Sat Mar 12, 2005 9:48 am

dude, i love reading the captions, they are extremely funny!
espically the one with melo and pierce, i can't stop looking at it, so funny! great job with this (Y)

Sat Mar 12, 2005 10:08 am

thanks guys....it's kinda in the tradition of HonorGlow's 2004 Dynasty....
Trez wrote:Ricky Davis n Mike Dunleavy all-star.......what has the NBA(in X's dynasty) come to :miserable:

F-Jay wrote:Peepz, where the hell was T-Mac? Going on holiday or something?

yeah, I know and Davis beat out LBJ  but as for Dunleavy, he's been playing great ball for Warriors (22.0ppg) and probably deserves a spot, even if it is at the expense of T-Mac :D

and I'm hoping to turn it around for the season....playoffs are a tough ask but I'm going to push for it....East seems to be a little stronger this year, so adds to the intrigue....

once again, thanks everyone

Sat Mar 12, 2005 10:18 am

Haha, loving the captions under all the pictures. Great read. Hopefully, the Bobcats will find a reason to smile too these next couple of weeks.

Sat Mar 12, 2005 10:50 am

Go Kobe! Thats all i can say!

Sat Mar 12, 2005 11:09 am

Sit wrote:Go Kobe! Thats all i can say!

yep, those ballet classes really propelled his game (and his dance moves) to the next level :D

Sat Mar 12, 2005 11:13 am

what were the stats from the game
like... any way to find out who got MVP?

Sat Mar 12, 2005 11:17 am

nah, like I said it was simmed and no boxscore given....I was going to intervene but they didn't have that option available for the all-star game....but I based MVP on game I was playing....Kobe 17pts in 1st quarter....Melo taking over in 2nd quarter....not a real MVP award but I'll give them co-MVP as they were on track to win it....

Sat Mar 12, 2005 11:29 am

Yeah man! East got SERVED!
