LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Tonight's game was most likely the most embarrasing moment in the Los Angeles Clippers franchise as they lost by 78 points to the red hot Phoenix Suns. None of the Clipper players or coaches were available for comment after the game and the Clipper fans started to exit the game at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. One Clipper fan commented after the game saying, "This team isn't going anywhere. I have been a Clipper fan every since the franchise began and tonight just made me lose all faith in this team. They really pissed me off." The Suns led 81-37 at the end of the first half.
The Suns broke a ton of records in tonight's ball game. They broke the record for most points scored in the 1st half of a game (81). Most points scored in a quarter (44), most points scored in a game (145), best fg percentage in a game (.633), best 3-pt shooting percentage with over 10 attempts (.714). "It was just a field day for us today," Stoudemire said who scored a team-high 33 points. "We didn't really expect this heading into the game, but after we took care of business in the first quarter, we knew it was going to possibly be a blow out, but not this big (laughs)." The Clippers had three players in double figures scoring, (Brand, Simmons, Maggette) and they combined for a total of 40 of the Clippers 67 points.
"We didn't want to take this team lightly at all no matter what their record was," Suns coach D'Antonio said. "I wanted us to execute early in the game and fortunately we did that." Phoenix did alot more than execute, they demolished the Clippers defense. The Suns had four players with 25+ points as Stoudemire led the team with 33 points. Shawn Marion scored 29 points and had 12 rebounds. Joe Johnson scored 26 points and dished out 8 assists, and Nash finished with 25 points and 10 assists. Phoenix will head back home on a short plane trip from Los Angeles to face the 4-4 Chicago Bulls.
