how to make all-star players use their team jerseys?

I want to create a team that will use their own team jerseys (already used by the teams themselves in the mod I am editing)

You could try assigning the same TEAMCODE as the Rookies and Sophomores. No guarantee it'll work, though.

I made a new custom team and added duplicates of existing players. How would the game know which players would use which team's jerseys because I understood the duplicates as being separate new players.

Like in current NBA context as example:
I make a duplicate of Kawhi Leonard and add the duplicate to west team. How would the game know that the Leonard duplicate should wear Spurs jersey (among the 30 NBA teams)?

The ORIGTEAM (Original Team) field controls that.

I found a mod with an example like this and I am still in the process of analyzing it now but the custom team (with players wearing different jerseys) is listed as FIBA team (under Classification category in NBA live 08 editor). I just want to ask regarding the art files aspect, how do I handle that for this situation?

I tried the said team in quick play game and its jersey preview is Sacramento jerseys while the actual team uses only 2 jerseys (3 from starting 5 uses 1 jersey while the other 2 uses another jersey).

If it's doing it that way, then it's using complete jersey textures for the individual numbers, so assigning a certain number also assigns a specific jersey. I've seen that method put to use a few times before, though I'm not familiar with the specific steps to do it as I don't really do anything with jerseys.

the 2 different sets of home/away jerseys are from existing teams in the mod. I guessed that that team was originally Sacramento Kings team in the default NBA live 08 and they just decided to not bother tinkering with the jersey preview? Is that a correct guess?

It's like if I am going to make a custom team in fresh install live 08:
- edit an existing NBA team (Bulls for example)'s name and moniker and all other stuff and put it under FIBA "classification"
- The jersey previews are still the original team's (Bulls) jerseys
- starting guards use laker jersey whether home or away was selected in the preview before playing game
- starting frontcourt use celtics jersey whether home or away was selected in the preview before playing game
- bench players also use lakers and celtics according to each player

I will probably need to transfer to my other pc to install all the software for patching before continuing again

It sounds like not everything has been updated, yeah.
