Sure thing. Here are the respective player roles for the acquired players: sixth man, role player, bench warmer

Well its tough to say, but your sixth man can hit threes, Lee from the Celtics could be the guy, but maybe also Korver. Was thinking of Foye or Mo Williams maybe ... but it's really tough to say. You did not give up too much ...

Although I think that the Atlanta trade is most likely, I go with Randy Foye, Earl Watson and Jeremy Evans. (although this kills the don't make trades in your division rule)

Honeybucket?? Hahahaha. Excremento is a funny piece too. I love how you tie humor in to the story. Simple and to the point story. Enjoyed catching up. Whatever the trade is, you need some help to flip that record. Following.

TRAIL BLAZERS ACQUIRE JASON TERRY

Image
Portland Trail Blazers trade Nolan Smith, Luke Babbitt, Dan Gadzuric, 2014 2nd rounder to Boston Celtics for Jason Terry, Chris Wilcox, Jason Collins

The Blazers and Celtics made shockwaves around the league as the Blazers acquire disgruntled combo guard Jason Terry from the Celtics in a six player deal. Terry, buried in a rotation behind Avery Bradley and Courtney Lee, was disgruntled with a lack of playing time, and the Celtics opted to jettison him and his $21 million dollar contract.

Portland improves their depth considerably, replacing the improving Nolan Smith with Jason Terry, a much better, but also much older player. Terry's contract is a major concern, as he will be paid $8 million in his final season at age 37. However, a player of Terry's caliber with championship experience and sharp shooting should be a huge boost off the bench. Nolan Smith had a promising season, but the major thing the Blazers sacrificed was cap flexibility. In that sense, the trade is a huge risk. The second trade in six weeks for the team could also hurt this team's reportedly strong chemistry. Chris Wilcox could be a gem though, as he'll shore up the backup power forward position.

The Celtics, at 22-17, will be looking to rebuild soon, and Jason Terry's contract was immediately regrettable. Terry was on the block for some time, and as a result, Boston essentially gave up their off-season pick-ups for cap room and a couple middling prospects. From a talent standpoint, they lose the deal, but long term, they save $20 million. The true winners of this trade may not be known for a couple years.

Trail Blazers get:
Jason Terry
Age 35 | 7.9 PPG, 11.8 MPG (11-12: 15.1 PPG, 3.6 APG, 31.7 MPG)
Chris Wilcox
Age 30 | 1.7 PPG, 2.3 RPG (11-12: 5.4 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 17.2 MPG)
Jason Collins
Age 34 | 0 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 4.2 MPG (11-12: 1.3 PPG, 1.6 RPG, 10.3 MPG)

Celtics get:
Nolan Smith
Age 24 | 8.4 PPG, 3.4 APG, 2.2 RPG, 18.6 MPG (11-12: 3.8 PPG, 1.4 APG, 12.3 MPG)
Luke Babbitt
Age 23 | 11-12: 5.1 PPG, 2.4 RPG
Dan Gadzuric
Age 34 | 11-12: 5 rebounds, 2 games, 13 minutes
2014 2nd round draft pick (POR)

Shelden Williams Waived
Jason Collins Waived

Ike Diogu signed to 1 yr, minimum contract

Rotation:

PG - Damian Lillard | Starter
SG - Wesley Matthews | Starter
SF - Nicolas Batum | Starter
PF - LaMarcus Aldridge | Starter
C - Chuck Hayes | Starter
----------
G - Jason Terry | Sixth Man
F/C - Chris Wilcox | Role Player
F - James Posey | Role Player
G - Ronnie Price | Role Player
C - Meyers Leonard | Prospect
F - Tyler Honeycutt | Prospect
F/C - Ike Diogu | Bench Warmer
----------
G - Elliot Williams | Injured/Prospect

NLSC PROSPECTS

I'll admit I've been bad about this. Starting season 2, I'm leaning towards monthly recaps. The plan is to go several seasons. Dmastawwe gets the final spot in the 2013 draft class, but 2014 is open to any and all who wish to be included. Just send me a PM.

Justine, dare, Martti and Khanwarrior won the contest, scoring 10 points apiece. Valor gets five for picking Boston and hova- and Dmastawwe three for participating with good guesses of their own. Thanks or participating, and the next opportunity to win points (and first to spend them) will be at the all-star break. Stay tuned.

From a RL standpoint, this trade is unfair. But considering Terry's poor numbers in this one, I guess this deal is okay, especially with the Cs not having a proper backup PG.

Terry is a beast when you use him well, he can shoot the ball extremely well coming around screens and hitting threes. Definitely good for you. Wilcox sucks, Collins can give fouls. Good trade (Y)

I definitely had no idea how this was gonna go down. I like the acquisition for you. A short term solution for your team! :)

Maybe bring back Sheed one day before he kicks the bucket

hova-, Yeah, this trade wouldn't be remotely fair in real life since Nolan Smith sucks and Terry's getting minutes. As it were, Terry was so dejected that his rating had declined to the point where Smith's was higher. The deal helps us big time in the short term. Terry is indeed good in the game, while Wilcox is a serviceable big. I did waive Collins though. I cut Shelden because he sucked and his bad attitude over not playing put our chemistry in jeopardy.

Sit, Indeed, I have the need for Sheed, but sadly he is not in my rosters. Maybe I'll sneak him into a draft

Pretty good trade for you. I thought of Jason Terry but when I thought of what you would have to give away I thought you would not go for him, but overall a solid trade for both teams.

First post on the story, but I've been reading for a while now. Good acquisition of Terry in the short term, but in the long run, like you said, is unknown yet.

JET! That's a huge trade for you. You are going to have a lot of scoring off the bench now. I agree with Sit, it would be awesome if you could bring back Sheed, too bad you don't have him on your roster. Why not call Bonzi and Grant out of retirement as well, haha.

WEEK TWELVE: 1/14 - 1/20
Record: 19-21 (3-1) | 5th in division, 10th in conference

Image
Jason Terry had 15 points in his Blazers debut

It was one of the best weeks of the season thus far for Portland, as they improved their spot in the race for the 8th seed, and more importantly shored up the bench with the Jason Terry trade. Now roughly halfway through the season, Portland will need to step up if they want to keep their post-season hopes alive. If the first game with Terry is any indication though, this team could be the #1 seed's worst nightmare.

Five Scorers Score 15+ As Blazers Beat Thunder
1/13/2013 - Thunder 100 @ Blazers 105

After taking control in the third quarter, the Blazers used a well balanced attack to defeat the division leading Thunder 105-100. The game was competitive throughout. but the Blazers managed to hold off the Thunder thanks to 53% shooting from the field.

OKC 19 28 23 30 | 100 [22-15] - Westbrook: 26/4/7; Durant: 25/6/2; K. Martin: 15/5/1
POR 16 25 34 31 | 105 [17-20] - Batum: 17/9/3; Matthews: 22/2/2; Aldridge: 15/8/1

Blazers Can't Beat Nuggets in OT
1/15/2013 - Blazers 102 @ Nuggets 105 [OT]

Damian Lillard had 25 points and 9 assists, but it wasn't enough, as the Denver Nuggets beat the Blazers 105-102 in an overtime epic. Denver shared the ball and played solid defense while Portland stayed in the game with ten three point makes. Ultimately, the road team fell short on the road and lost to the now division-leading Denver Nuggets, 105-102.

POR 29 19 23 20 11 | 102 [17-21] - Lillard: 25/2/9; Batum: 21/6/3; Aldridge: 17/11/3
DEN 20 25 21 25 14 | 105 [26-15] - W. Chandler: 21/6/2; Iguodala: 9/6/12; McGee: 15/7/2

Aldridge Leads Blazers Past Cavs
1/16/2013 - Cavaliers 95 @ Blazers 104

The struggling Cavaliers weren't expected to beat the Blazers, and despite shooting 51% from the field, they didn't. Thanks to a staggering +27 advantage from the free throw line for the home team Blazers, Portland was able to cruise to victory. Kyrie Irving had a huge game for Cleveland, but it was far from enough.

CLE 21 21 26 27 | 95 [13-28] - Irving: 30/8/8; T. Thompson: 16/6/3; Waiters: 14/3/1
POR 31 26 21 26 | 104 [18-21] - Aldridge: 26/8/0; Batum: 16/7/4; N. Smith: 14/4/5

Blazers Dominate Bucks In First Game Since Trade
1/19/2013 - Bucks 92 @ Blazers 100

Image

Damian Lillard had 16 points and 16 assists, Aldridge had 22 and 7, and newcomer Jason Terry had 15 points and 4 assists as the Blazers defeat the Bucks in a game that was less close than the final score suggested. The game was close early on, but hot shooting from three point land gave Portland an eight point edge going into halftime.

In the third, Jennings shot the Bucks out of the game as Milwaukee fell behind by double digits and all attempts to slow Portland's momentum failed. The Blazers led by as many as 19 points, before settling for a Chalupa-worthy 100-92 victory. Chris Wilcox, also acquired in the Nolan Smith trade, had 2 points and 5 assists. Portland improves to 19-21 on the season and a game and a half behind 8th place Utah in the West.

MIL 22 23 19 28 | 92 [16-23] - Jennings: 19/3/7, 9-30 FG; Udoh: 8/8/1; Ellis: 8/0/2, 4-7 FG
POR 25 28 26 21 | 100 [19-21] - Lillard: 16/3/16; Aldridge: 22/7/1, 11-14 FG; Matthews: 20/2/1, 8-9 FG, 4-5 3pt

Division Standings

2 Oklahoma City 25-15
3 Denver 25-16
5 Minnesota 22-15
8 Utah 21-20
Portland 19-21
