You can't port the old ones really. You'd need to re-license all the old players.
And I'm pretty sure the old code is lost.
On the upside, a good number of the old Midway team is involved in this game.
Thanks for linking this in the locked thread, Andrew. I spent at least twenty-four seconds trying to find the proper thread after he posted it.

Ah, of course. Not to worry, the old SNES is still in the cupboard and in working order.

Great game for sure . Too bad not released in PC
It's a great game and it's on of the most fun games i've ever played
Andrew, Really sorry about my other thread. My mistake

No worries.
GoNintendo.com has posted a scan of a Nintendo Power feature that shows another screenshot from the new NBA Jam game for the Nintendo Wii and mentions Fall (or Autumn, if you prefer) as the release date. You can check it out
here.

I like it, but why are the Celtics cheerleaders in red?

It's certainly a creative approach with the player faces, I suppose it fits the atmosphere of the game. It may be one of those things that looks better during gameplay as opposed to in screenshots.
I actually think it looks good in screenshots. It does certainly fit into the atmosphere of the game.

Yeah I don't mind the idea. I think the new screenshot from the Nintendo Power article scan is a better demonstration of the concept in action, too.

This week I have gone with:
Wolves: Love, Flynn, Brewer
Grizzlies: Gay, Mayo, Gasol
Warriors: Curry, Ellis, Randolph
On second thought maybe should have gone with Al Jefferson but don't really care about him.

The
official NBA Jam website features three new polls to determine the players who will be included for the Timberwolves, Grizzlies and Warriors. There is also a new
blog entry examining the choices for this week's teams.
Tue Jan 19, 2010 10:48 am
Did you vote Andrew?
Tue Jan 19, 2010 1:42 pm
I voted in the first set of polls. It was my intention to vote in the new ones as well, but they're under the impression that I've already voted.

I went with exactly the same teams as you
You always need one talented big. Meal Ticket's athleticism helps

Yep, that totally makes you a cool dude.

I know. Definitely a disappointment.
Also seems I can vote now. I went with Love, Flynn and Brewer for the Timberwolves; Mayo, Gay and Randolph for the Grizzlies; and Ellis, Maggette and Randolph for the Warriors.
Wed Jan 20, 2010 10:05 am
How could you go with Randolph? Marc Gasol is a beat.

And booo @ Maggette!
Wed Jan 20, 2010 10:14 am
I know, I went back and forth between Gasol and Randolph but ultimately I think Randolph will be good enough defensively in an arcade game like NBA Jam, where the best defense is knocking the opponent to the floor for the steal and putting as many points up as quickly as possible. As for Maggette, I chose him purely because he'll likely have a good dunking rating and that's pretty much what NBA Jam is all about.

Are there rules in NBA Jam? Been so long since I played.

Would be cool if they could make some old school teams but there are licensing issues.

Would wanna use the 90s Bulls featuring MJ/Pippen/Rodman or MJ/Pippen/Grant
A cool team off top of my head would be MJ/Larry Bird/Magic
Wed Jan 20, 2010 10:32 am
Traditionally the only rules were the shot clock, goaltending (though players on fire could get away with it), the three point line and the game clock. No fouls, so the best way of stealing the ball in my view was to just knock the opponent down right after the inbound, if possible.

And I voted for...
Thunder: Durant, Westbrook,
GreenClippers: B Diddy,
Al Thornton, Blake
Kings: Martin, Reke Evans, Thompson
As I said, don't vote for nuggets

I guess I can let you away with Green since you don't fully understand the epic nature of James Harden's game. But Al over Gordon

You can't vote for the Nuggets yet..... and what is your problem with voting for them? Are you hoping If no one votes for them they will leave them out of the game?
Wed Jan 20, 2010 10:43 am
I don't think X was referring to the basketball team.
Wed Jan 20, 2010 10:47 am
Yeah, he was referring to me. I think he didn't want me to fuck up the team.

When voting starts I'm going with Melo, JR Smith, and The Butler
Wed Jan 20, 2010 8:13 pm

A nugget is not a good thing & nothing to do with the Denver Nuggets

What are you talking about???

So you can understand the confusion when he says "nuggets"
Do you mean short/small players?
