1up.com's Exclusive NBA Jam Preview

Sat Jul 03, 2010 11:39 am

I posted this in the 1up.com weeklong feature thread, but there's some new noteworthy info so I thought it was worthy of its own thread as well.
http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3180237

The preview reveals:

  • Spud Webb and the late Manute Bol are in the game.

  • The Remix Tour contains a mini-game called "Backboard Smash", in which you need to deplete a health meter for your opponent's backboard with the first team to smash their opponent's backboard being the winner. As you'd expect, dunks deplete the meter quicker than three point shots and somewhat creatively, goaltending restores your opponent's meter.

  • Boss battles take place in custom arenas and are one-on-one halfcourt match-ups that utilise a different camera angle, set behind the players from beyond halfcourt. The legends that serve as bosses will have their own special moves (for example, Magic Johnson can throw himself an alley-oop then teleport and catch it before dunking it home) and professional wrestling-style entrances.

Sounds pretty good to me, Remix Tour sounds like it'll be pretty in-depth and challenging, a worthy alternative to the classic tournament game (which is still available, for those who are unaware).

Reminds me of those EA? one-on-one games before Live or VS. series.

Does the old Jam have boss battles?

I think I might update our Wii just for the sake of Jam

No, that's a new feature.
