DBF Editing help...

Sun May 25, 2008 10:00 am

I'm trying to create a custom team, but I don't really know what some entries are in DBF Editor.

Like, one is called SECRGB, and I have no idea what that is...

There are more, so could anyone tell me what they all mean?

This is for NBA Live 08.

Thanks,
-JR

teams.dbf remains unchanged from last year.

Yeah I took a look at that, but does anyone know what I should put in?

It crashes when I play my team...

Also, how can I add my art?

I was looking at like NBA Live 2005 DBF tutorial, so could that be part of the crashing?

Please, I really need to make this team...

Thanks,
-JR

Maybe. It depends on which fields you have edited looking at Live 2005 tutorial, cause dbf files are changed a bit from Live 2005.

As long as you put a valid value in that column (see the Colour Chart for a reference) it shouldn't matter; that colour is up to you. If in doubt, you can copy another team's value for the time being. The crash is likely due to an error somewhere else, possibly missing art.

So how can I get my own art Andrew?

Also, I have to use another team's speech ID huh?

Tue May 27, 2008 2:38 am

You'd need to use existing speech files, yes. With art you've got two options. You can either use existing art or create your own. The former is easier while the latter is generally more appropriate for original custom teams.

How can I create my own art? What file do I need to edit?

Tue May 27, 2008 3:28 am

Everything; courts, jerseys, logos, the works. I'm not the person to ask about editing graphics, I'd suggest going back to the different tutorials on that one.

What I meant was that if I edited, let's say, Dallas's art, wouldn't it edit it's art to, not just my team's art too?

Do ya get what I'm saying?

Tue May 27, 2008 11:27 am

You don't edit another team's art. You would need to have seperate art files if you want your team to have its own art.

Tue May 27, 2008 1:15 pm

Okay...

When I have created my art, what do I need to put in for DBF Editor?

The values I mean, how would I get my art in the game? What do I need to put in the values?

Stop bugging Andrew.

JT, that does not help me.

I know there are tutorials on how to edit the jerseys, the logos, and the courts, but when I have created all my art, what do I need to put in the values for DB Commander?

And I'm not bugging Andrew, I'm asking everyone here at the NLSC forum, not just Andrew.

You need to assign your own team abbreviations. These can be anything you like (so long as they're not already used by another team) but it's probably best to following the same naming method as the other team abbreviations.

For example, if you were creating a custom Las Vegas team, I'd suggest using lv for TEAMABR2 and lasv for TEAMABR4. You would then have to name the art files for the team accordingly. Any art files that use the two letter team abbreviation would need to use lv in this example, while art files that use the four letter abbreviations would use lasv.

Yeah, that's what I wanted to know.

Thanks Andrew.
