I can't trade for draft picks!!

Someone help me. I'm already halfway through my Lakers dyansty and no one will trade away their draft picks

Anyone have any advice?

I'm in the same boat as after the first year I haven't been able to get a first round pick. the first year with Minnesota Timberwolves I trading off Ricky Davis to Dallas for Devean George and a 1st rounder but it was a late first rounder I can't seem to get a high first round pick.

The computers can easily be tricked by numbers. Give him one more player that he wants (60/70 OVRL), and usually the comp is satisfied. But if trading an extra player just isn't possible. Try with an old, aging vet. The computer is usually interested in vets such as Bryant and McGrady, trade your aging stars for two good overall players and a 1st round draft pick (if you're reluctant about this, save to a different file, and continue the dynasty, probably sim it, to predict the future, to see if the trade was worth it). But it all depends on what you want. Just keep trying with the comp.

And to dascoot, sometimes it's hard to pinpoint for an early first-round draft pick. But what I usually do when I see a good prospect, is, I simply let him be picked, and usually, that prospect is around 70-80 OVRL. In the offseason, I try my best (giving multiple players, giving away stars) to obtain that prospect, as it is much easier this way. Usually computers are far more interested in draft picks than actual players (not to mention newly drafted players are usually around the high/low 70's), making it a huge advantage for me during the offseason.

I just traded for a much higher projected draft pick. I use Cleveland in my dynasty, and I'm in my 3rd season, but I haven't succeeded in getting a replacement for Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who is getting really old and his skills are diminishing. I drafted a player last season whom I thought would eventually replace him as the starting center when he retires, but he has very low learning ability and workethic. This upcoming draft is projected as very strong and is loaded with C/PF, but my first pick was projected around 27. Since I need just the replacement center, I decided to bundle both my picks and trade them to NJ for only their 1st round pick, and they accepted. They were projected at 13 at the time. Now, it is projected at 9, and if it stays that way, I guess I've gotten a very good deal. That way, I can draft a very good center who can become the starter.

The moral: If you are not in a rebuilding phase of your dynasty, try trading 2 of your picks for a higher first round pick. It may be worth it.

I find that trading a player for a draft pick usually works. When I play using the rockets, often trading bonzi wells to memphis for their 1st rounder only works. Also, Philly has an open roster spot and cap space, so a player in their low 70's and on a decent salary would do it there.

However, I find I have much less success in later years as teams run out of room under the salary cap.

I get sick of unrealistic trades in my Dynasty. Twice now Boston have accepted a -60 player for their top draft pick(around 15th overall) in a strong draft class. If I try and trade away a 65-70 player to a team that are really interested in him the best I can get is a second round pick(and a late one too).

There are unrealistic trades not only for draft picks, but for player trades too. I've seen CPU trades like Rasheed Wallace for Michael Redd, Brian Skinner for Raja Bell, etc. The CPU can make trades that can either help or hurt their team.
