Does Lighting somehow mess up the gameplay

Postby atlwarrior on Mon May 28, 2007 3:05 am

I played a whole game without lighting and it took away a lot of glitches like the warping reverse dunk and players walking through each other.
i also didnt see any skating.

If lighting causes all those glitches ea should really get rid of it.

plus i dont like it because it makes the players look like action figures

nba 2k7 does not use lighting at all and look at their graphics (theyre great)

um, ok, first off lighting does nothing except change the way the game looks visually, that is it. No gameplay or animation changes.

and 2k7 does have "lighting" as do the console versions of live (they have it on by default)
Opinions are my own.

okay i already knew lighting was default for the console versions

Yeah maybe nba 2k does use lighting but not tons of it like nba live

its okay for them to use lighting but not tons of it

oh yeah and if you actually turn lighting off, the game does run better with less glitches

just take a closer look at the dunks and layups

I admit I haven't tried it but that seems unlikely. As Jao said, the lighting only affects the environmental visuals, not the gameplay or any of the animations.

Lighting would, however, eat up tons of memory and processor space and lower your framerate. On a lower end computer the game would seem faster and run a little better with lighting turned off, on a higher end computer there would be no noticable difference.

Ah, that's true. That could be the phenomenon you're noticing, atlwarya9.
