I have no sound card. Can I trick my computer?

Hey gang,

AMD Athlon 64
2800
1.8 GHz, 1.5 GB RAM

I have my sound card built into my motherboard and it has died on me. This has resulted in me not being able to play NBA (or other games) anymore on my PC. Just wondering if anybody knows a way to trick the game into letting me start it up without a sound card (I realize that I will have no sound, and I don't care). I don't want to buy a new card if somebody has an idea how to resolve this. Please let me know, thanks in advance to anybody who has this info/knowledge.

hmm i think you can't trick the computer like you can't trick the computer that your v card supports lighting so you can have lighting in game.

but the best way is to buy a cheap sound card

I hate buying things.
