you need to make it sharper, use the unsharp mask filter (the thing you said was choppy) and set it to 93, (do this once or twice or 3 times) then make a brightness/contrast layer with 2/7 as the setting and it will look much better.

i think u kinda overdid on the beard

Another fixed preview in my previous post, i edited it. Took your guys' advice as much as I could.

yeah its alright now.. u did pretty good, a bad thing is the headshape but its not really ur responsibility so good job.
