What's the point of ESPN Rumor Central?

It seems pointless spending time researching rumors. Is there a way that they can help me?

Well if you need to trade a player, or trade for a player or find a player that is going to retire it can help, but I tend to just ignore it and i find it usuless, at least you don't lose GM ratings for ignoring it like ignoring scouting.

The importance of the Rumor Central is that you will know what teams are willing to trade their respective players and what team wants a specific position, this help if you want to get rid of a player or trade a player that you think is not giving enough contribution to the team.

By using the Rumor Central, you will be able to learn what teams are you able to do a transaction, for example: Houston Rockets puts T-Mac on the Trading Block? use your staff to scout on this issue, if it is a Yes, your chances on trading for T-Mac becomes higher.

Its up to you if you use this or not, it isn't much of importance or value but still it helps, but IMO its pretty much useless.

I wouldn't say that it's useless but it is a feature that you might not need to pay as much attention to as scouting or training. As JosephSu said it's main use is to determine which players might be attainable through a trade, who may be retiring at the year's end and which free agents might be looking to sign with a certain team.

Beyond that, I believe it's intended to simply simulate the presence of rumours in professional sports which I personally think is still cool. It is, afterall, something that has appeared in Wishlists in years gone by.

Yeah, I agree with Andrew on this one. I like the rumour central. The only thing I don't like is that when, for instance, player X is rumoured to sign with Y but officially signs with Z, the rumour doesn't expire immediately and you can still try to find out whether X will sign with Y...

Agreed, ideally the rumour should be deleted/tagged as soon as there's an outcome.

I disagree about the deleting part, I think the rumor should be included in the cellphone reminders since its better for you to be reminded about the latest rumors than opening the menu every day over and over again and checking if there is something interesting.

I also think EA should include the planning of team events like helping poor children or something to make the game more realistic (since that is EA's main goal)

Is that what their main goal is? I'm not so sure about that. The more I play this game, the more unrealistic it seems. I have spent (read wasted) numerous hours trying to get the sliders to produce a gameplay that vaguely approximates the NBA, with no luck. You'd think that sort of thing would be an integral part of the game WITHOUT having to adjust the sliders at all.

It's just another example of EASports producing something that is the least-worst, and not the best that it could be. There is much truth to the idiom "Necessity is the mother of invention." What do they care? They own the NBA licenses. There's no real motivation to produce something of quality on their part. We'll keep buying their crap, because we have no choice if we want to continue playing these types of games.

I don't think it's totally useless. Not just the trade rumors, but sometimes it talks about whether our players are looking to retire, or they're not happy with the team.. etc
