X-factor is retarded

Thu Oct 19, 2006 8:15 am

Playing as the Spurs, I lost to the Cavs because once Finley became unlocked as a superstar shooter, I kept shooting 3's with him. This feature is so worthless. Rather than using Duncan, Parker, and Barry - who are full time superstars - I kept giving the ball to Finley.

Last time I ever use this consciously.

yeah that a problem. sumtimes when i play the guy with the x-factor doesn't ever get into the game.

i don't think that its retarded, but sumtimes trying to activate it can make you lose focus on what your spose to be doing.

like winning !

Is that like the old "hot streak" gameplay feature? That was cool.

You're upset that you chose to keep shooting 3s with Finley?

I never use the X-factor in my game... I guess it comes down to the player. You can choose to abuse the system or not...

in your case, you chose to abuse it... I don't get why you're complaining...

 Wow.

X-Factors don't seem that powerful to me (I miss often enough when they're on) occasionally with them

Thu Oct 19, 2006 10:13 am

I never unlocked one yet cuz I find it useless, but when CPU unlocks it (in superstar mode), you better be ready to get your ass whooped, especially if it's a PG... :?

Thu Oct 19, 2006 11:15 am

yeah i had to read the first post twice...i still dont get why he is crying. Next time dont shoot so many 3's with finley.

The X-Factor feature is meant to represent players who can get hot from time to time and provide a boost, such as Robert Horry's performance in Game 5 of the 2005 NBA Finals. Since they're generally borderline stars or aging veterans still capable of big games every now and then, you can't really rely on them as you would your star players.

I went nuts with Brian Grant unlocking his Power Player ability.

Thu Oct 19, 2006 9:39 pm

I thoguht Brian Grant can't do anything these days...

Thu Oct 19, 2006 9:58 pm

True. I was playing with 97/98 rosters :proud:

I like the X-Factor system although it does need some refinement. Certain players shouldn't be able to have the X-Factor mainly because they're... Well they're scrubs, or are just not clutch...

Maybe EA could turn the X-Factor system off until the playoffs and rivalry games? Mmmm I don't know it could work, but whatever...

Fri Oct 20, 2006 5:16 am

I like the playoffs, rivalry idea. I never really use it, unless the xfactor is in the starting lineup, even still I try not to go crazy with him, and after a while it just becomes a non-issue.

Practice self control, you can acheive anything....

Yet he calls the tree a retard.

That's exactly the point of my post. I thought the x-factor thing made you invincible. so I kept chucking up 3's. And as I said, I learned my lesson. No more chucks.

By the way, I was being dominated one time by the CPU so I got pissed and started chucking half-court 3's. Half of them went in.

No, the appropriate analogy would be giving me a gun and telling me to go out there and shoot people and then me complaining about being arrested afterwards. Yes, I should have known better, but the retarded X-factor encourages you to keep using that guy cause it took you so much freaking effort to unlock him.

As I said, I'm never using that feature again.

Hmmm, I don't think it's been advertised that it makes you "invicible", just that you get a superstar ability for a while...

Sat Oct 21, 2006 5:21 am

JWL...it took you effort to unlock the xfactor? usually i dont even notice i'm using an xfactor guy until giant epileptic seizure causing flashes start occurring under my players...then i'm like "oh" and solely activate to make it stop flashing....

Sat Oct 21, 2006 5:46 am

If you use it in the flow of the game it works pretty well. It's not intended for you to forget about the rest of the team and just use one guy. It's not 1 on 5 once you unlock it. Original poster is crazy. I love the analogy of the tree and the driver....yet the tree is retarded. Classic!

This thread needs to get retired. Its comedic gold.

I strongly agree. You may or may not unlock it in one game or the next, it doesn't matter. That's why there are superstars in the game who you can rely on.
