System Specs & DX Diag Info Needed for Official Patch

Thu Oct 12, 2006 3:49 pm

I've received word that the development team has been encountering problems reproducing the bug where the game will exit when "Quit Game" is selected. They've asked if those who are encountering that problem can provide their system specs to aid the team in making sure the patch resolves that issue for everyone.

So...anyone who experiences the problem of the game crashing when you select "Quit Game", please post your PC's specs and I'll forward that information on to the development team.

Please do not post bug reports/things you'd like to see fixed in the patch here. That's not what this thread is for. Also, please refrain from EA bashing/flaming in this thread. Yes, we're disappointed that there's some major bugs with the game but we've already sent in the petition with a bug list, we've got another bugs list thread going and this thread is a productive effort to ensure an issue can be resolved and that it works for everyone.

So once again: PC specs only in this thread, please. Anything else will be deleted, the information they're after at the moment is PC specs. Thanks for your co-operation, hopefully this will ensure the fix works for everyone's hardware. :)

UPDATE: The team has also asked if we can send DX Diag info along as well to assist in tracking down and fixing the crash.

I may be mistaken, but wouldn't it be helpful if people posted whether or not they have the EA downloader version of the game or not? The first wave of irritated individuals had it and it seemed to be the common link.

Thats true, but I think there were some people with Storebought copies the experienced it too. I thought it might be a safedisc/securom issue or something, but ive yet to experiment myself.

Alright, I'm just wondering if these people with "storebought copies" downloaded torrents of the EA Downloader version illegally without realizing which version it was.

Lol, good point. I never once had the crash problem. But still i figured it would be good to post the specs. Honestly, who the hell has that patience to download files like that? I got 40 bucks, and eb is literally 5 minutes away. Rather not spend 52 hours downloading a buggy game that i couldnt play online even if it worked properly...

Thanks for the info everyone. (Y) Just received word from EA, they're still having a bit of trouble nailing down the exact cause of the crash. They've asked if we can provide them with some DX Diag reports so if you can post that info as well, should be a big help. :)

Sun Oct 15, 2006 2:44 am

do you want us to post the whole text file? or is there a specific part they would need? i'm only asking, because i don't want to clutter up the thread...thanks andrew :)

i was really hoping your forums had the text box with the scroll bars for the code input, apparantly not.
