Bug Reports (ALL BUG REPORTS HERE!)

Wed Oct 04, 2006 5:15 pm

The patch petition has already been submitted but it's probably worthwhile to continue to compile a list of bugs and a central thread is much more organised than creating a new thread every time an issue is discovered since those tend to get lost in the shuffle.

FYI: The list of bugs and issues submitted in the petition:

Major Issues (Top Priority)
  • Teams don't sub normally for both human and CPU. Players only leave if there is foul trouble, and often do not come back for an extended period of time. Fatigue does not affect substitutions, and it was reported that a starter that is exhausted but not in foul trouble will be sent back into the game if an attempt to bench him was made.
  • Add sliders for Fatigue and CPU Substitution Frequency
  • Provide alternative shorter seasons rather than only full 82 game seasons similar to previous years' versions
  • Point guard takes too many shots/scores too often; primacy issue? It was reported that the point guard does not fatigue compared to all the other players.
  • When ending a matchup by clicking on 'Quit Game' rather than returning to the main menu, it literally exits the game. [Both EA Downloader and PC-DVD version]
  • Save stats button (especially for online leagues)

Significant Issues
  • The small square not disappearing when hiding the menu in instant replay mode
  • After calling a play, there's an inability to see where to set up plays
  • Direct pass position assignment not correctly mapped to gamepad. ie: dunk label appears over player, pressing the dunk button will pass to a player with the lay-up label.
  • If locked as a player, the CPU does not auto inbound. Inbounds are only done if one presses the pass button. This is a significant gameplay issue if one is locked as a power forward or center.
  • While using direct pass, player lock or off ball mode is enabled without clicking on the right analog stick (Thrustmaster & Logitech controllers)
  • No option to turn the stamina bar on in direct IP mode
  • Can't access PDA during trade player phase unless you get a new message
  • With two players on the same team using player lock for both, one of the players will frequently lose the ability to play
  • Most often, defense are not aware of the opposing team's SG and SF on the transition. Momentarily, they will be wide open for long jumpers.
  • Pressing the direct pass does not automatically switch to the player closest to the basket. The manual falsely states otherwise.
  • When starting a dynasty, detail settings cannot be changed.

Minor Issues
  • Add missing key players
  • Add missing jerseys and replace incorrect courts (Toronto Raptors)
  • Incorrect head textures
  • If a player gets blocked, the layup/dunk will count as 0/2 FG
  • A deflected pass counts as a turnover
  • There are no averages at the Team Stats screen
  • Occasionally, the CPU player dribbles until time winds down in non-clutch situations
  • Some settings like preferences are set to default each time you load the game
  • Can't release players during the FA negotiation period
  • Players occasionally warp (disappear then re-appear)
  • Jab steps (and other pivot moves) triggers a freestyle move (ie: http://youtube.com/watch?v=lSpGmbZloPY)
  • Camera zoom levels are never saved, it resets to default after quitting a game
  • Occasionally, when the center or power forward inbounds the ball after opposition scored, switching to an off-ball player other than the PG resulted in the C/PF holding the ball and not passing it to the active player (5-second violation)
  • There are "six" starters on the International team
  • A player retires at age 57 after playing only one year in the league [screenshot]
  • Rasheed Wallace and Pau Gasol cannot dunk, literally.
  • When a player blocks a jumper rather than a dunk or layup, the block will not count.
  • Three pointers either count a feet away from the line in a certain area or on the line in a different area.
  • Sometimes on a score and foul, the basket doesn't count, but the player shoots only one free throw.
  • Notifications for injuries or fouls occasionally do not show up.
  • Player textures are shown significantly different in the game and in the player edit screen.
  • The instant replay cuts off every time a player inbounds the ball, missing the finishing play.
  • Players have jumped 15 feet in the air.
  • Starters are occasionally benched prior to the start of a game.

this probably has happened so much in the last2 years we've almost disregarded it... Subs after the second free throw?? did they ever fix that? This isn't March Madness

Wed Oct 04, 2006 6:35 pm

really though, in the grand scheme of things: who gives a shit?

i don't see in the list my last bugs report, so i write it again:

"In Game IP vs IP if i call one playbook offensive with 2 time button pressions(all the offensive playbook pressing 2 time buttons than i can call do that) , over my player' head i can see the label dunk, Lay-up, Shot, Pass, and so if i press the off ball button with one of dunk, Lay-up, Shot, Pass, before this label was off (for take the control of one of my player), the game losing the connection. This is very bad for online game."

People who pay money for the game.

i was talking specifically about the CPU subbing after the wrong freethrow. compared to all the other bugs, it's nothing.

Wed Oct 04, 2006 7:33 pm

I know you were.

And one that has been around for years is just as bad as the new ones.

They still cant even fix the turnover bug.

A bug is a bug no matter how much you give a shit about it koberulz.

BTW Andrew can you add the turnover bug to the list please (blocking a shot out of bounds or tapping the ball out of bounds results in an incorrect turnover for that player).

I know its been around for years just like the free throw bug but its still there.

Personally I'd get rid of the division in minor, significant and major bugs. You're inviting EA to ignore everything below major.

Furthermore, the priority of the bugs is something personal. The lack of a pivot game due to the freestyle trigger (in minor bugs), for example, is a lot more important to me than the lack of a season shorter than 82 games (just sim/intervene to solve that).

Maybe I've got another bug... Shouldn't you be able to browse through the menus using your controller instead of the mouse? People do it all the time on consoles and I'm very used to it.

so if they fixed the sub bug, and all bugs new to nba live 07, but not that, you wouldn't buy the game?

I agree.

The rating of how significant/insignificant a bug is comes down to a personal choice.

No I wouldnt.

Wed Oct 04, 2006 7:52 pm

then you're an idiot.

Wed Oct 04, 2006 7:57 pm

Im not going to bother arguing with a teenage Kobe Bryant fan because I wont buy an inferior basketball game.

the cpu subbing at the wrong time makes it inferior? good like finding something of decent quality then.

and so what if i'm a kobe bryant fan? how does that affect anything at all related to this argument?

koberulz wrote:and so what if i'm a kobe bryant fan? how does that affect anything at all related to this argument?

Because he dislikes what kobe bryant is liked for by his fans.

Another KB81 fan here koberulz. :)

Wed Oct 04, 2006 9:30 pm

No the CPU subbing is not the only part that makes it inferior.

Going out in the first round and raping girls?

If you dislike Kobe Bryant, keep it to yourself.

Edit: Bahz, anyway, I sincerely apologise for the following:
1. Completely irrelevant reply on a thread as such, I forgot about the title.
2. Saw some of koberulz's irrelevant flames and wanted to return to delete the thread, but Oosh quoted my reply and continued.

Sorry Andrew, could you remove our nonsensical posts to keep this thread clean? Sorry.

I must be one of the lucky ones because i have been playing this game quite a bit and i have not seen hardly any of those bugs mentioned above just the sub/fatigue bug is my main concern but good luck with the petitions i hope ea puts a patch soon.

Wed Oct 04, 2006 11:37 pm

You mean zoom level automatically saves for you,how could it be possible?I think its a major bug and really annoying staring every new
game with below mid level :lame:

Maybe it's just me being an idiot... But where the heck did the posting go... as far as i see it... There is no post button.. Kinda takes th fun away from centers like Shaq  And futhermore... the powermove/dribble has also been removes... :? what gives?

And the releases on star players??? I play with the Pistons in a dynasty, Prince shoots as any other lefty, and Sheed can't dunk.... Good Job EA.....Good job....

This is more a complaint than a bug:

What the heck is with that stinking cutscene that flashes a BIG NBA LIVE 07 logo in my face after I make a free throw? It's enough to give anyone an epileptic seizure. What asshole came up with that - do I really need a reminder that I'm playing Live 07? I thought the whole idea of a simulation was to eliminate all the interruptions in the game that make you realize it's a game.

I think this flashing cutscene garbage started in 05.

You were right to start with. Doesn't really fit the thread at all, but there's no way to fix that.

Thu Oct 05, 2006 6:36 am

In response to cookieman: if you're using a dual analog gamepad (which most people i know who play on PC do unless i'm mistaken) pull back on the right analog stick and it should post up for you....

I'm not going to repeat what everyone else has said because this board is now ridiculously full of complaints about the bugs. I agree with the bugs in place this is a very crappy game for anyone who plays for depth of a basketball game. It would be like Madden without franchise mode (although if anyone remembers they tried that and got lambasted for it too). However, i was unsure about buying this game until i played the xbox verision locally. I usually dont play on superstar, but in the old games, i could shoot with whoever i wanted whenever i wanted and make the shot. That is not the case in this game. So I do have to say, this is the most realistic live in a few years (had '04-06) aside from the bugs previously discussed. EA i hope will show some loyalty to their customers and release a patch but we have to be patient. The games been out what a week? if they're going to release a patch they're going to make sure to get every bug they can at once. In a couple more weeks, if there is still no patch, then we can start crucifying them. Sorry if i've restated anything said a million times before...i just think if we want them to help, we need to be reasonable. The petition and emails by several of the members here i've seen have been stellar steps in showing them we're serious. And to the mods etc. If i posted this to the wrong spot i apologize...i'm still trying to figure out what goes where.

As for bugs i've enountered, i was using boozer the other day, got fouled and the ref wouldnt throw me the ball for the damn free throw. luckily it was the first 3 minutes of the game so i had no regrets about restarting. Just annoying.

The Major, Minor differentiation is a good thing. The only bug that really makes the game unplayable is the sub bug.

If the patch petition had too much, it's more likely to be ignored.
