OK, these are my suggestion for the final fixing:
1) Make the team letters bold (you might want to consider trying another font..)
2) Make the numbers in the scores bold (again, maybe try another font..)
3) Center the numbers in the white score space (they look like they are centered to the left)
4) The 1st,2nd,3rd,4th of the quarter should be upper-case (1ST,2ND,3RD,4TH) but still the number should be bigger than the letters
5) Just a pesonal request, if you can, please release two versions - one scoreboard in top of the screen and one in the buttom of the screen

You should ask Pdub and looser about the bolt suggestions.. maybe they can help you with those

You can use any true type font to replace EA's. Their fonts are in the "fe\fonts\common" directory. The only thing is, if you cahgne their fonts, they will change text throughout the entire game. You would have to find one that looks good both in-game and in the menu. I tried the espn font one time, lol I couldn't read anything.

Centering the numbers for 2 digits is the most logical solution, because EA doesn't center the numbers, they just use a margin. Since the most common scores are 2 digits, its better to let single-digit, and triple-digit numbers look a bit off.

I agree, bring back the black background and it should be great.

I kind of prefer the red that you used in the previous version, it will be kind of you if you release both (I know it means 4 version but I would be gratful if you do so).
