i think timeouts should be interactive like in Fight Night.. either auto or maybe you could change offense and defense or whatever..

i hope they can also add the school in the draft information and of coarse the big time programs produces the best prospects. right now i'm playing dynasty mode and it's the playoffs already and my team is philly and were a number 5 seed, we're playing toronto and the thing is we have better records than the 2 and 3 seeds. hopefully if the nba changes the rules they can also apply it in live 07

Ha ha. The positional depth chart didn't make the cut?
Oh well.
Great list. Lets hope '07 fulfills the potential that '05 and '06 teased us all so mercilessly with.

Which positional depth chart suggestion was that? There were a couple of items related to substitution patterns in there.

You know what I would like? I would like them to include all of the traded future draft picks in the game. Like for 06, they should have given New York's draft pick to Chicago, and Phoenix should get thier future draft picks from Atlanta for the Joe Johnson deal. That would be alot more realistic.

Whoops, my apologies. I missed it in the first read through.
It was just one of the things I had on my wishlist which I wrote quite some time ago (

I wouldn't mind that, it would make things more interesting to include realism like that. I don't think everyone would be in favour of that though, after all Dynasty Mode does employ a certain amount of fantasy.

in the dynasty mode, i hope the slam dunk contest will only be for the up and coming players.
Tue May 02, 2006 12:31 am
There are more pressing concerns to be considered/fixed in Dynasty mode than the Slam Dunk contest.
Tue May 02, 2006 9:28 am
well there are more pressing issues to be fixed in gameplay before all of those... some that come to mind are: the fact that it is impossible to get a shot off in time with less than like 1.5 seconds on the clock; Inbounding & passing need to be faster (despite slight improvements to passing this year), so it would be possible to play a fast-breaking style like the Suns & Sonics; better on-the-fly playcalling like in March Madness; change the position of the half-court inbound in the last 2 mins of the 4th quarter (it's further up into the front court this year); possibly add the option for TV timeouts during game?
Tue May 02, 2006 9:52 am
I think one major gameplay issue they need to address is the situation where you pass to a player and he jumps to catch the pass. This prevents fast breaks and quick shots with minimal time on the clock. I cant count the number of times I've tride to zip the ball up the court only to have my outlet man turnaround, jump, and catch the ball as opposed to catching it on the run. Same with last second shots.
Tue May 02, 2006 5:36 pm
Absolutely, though I find it's more of an issue when feeding the post. CPU opponents tend to react more intelligently and much quicker. While that does make for a handicap that provides a challenge it does make the game feel less fluid.
Tue May 02, 2006 8:48 pm
Yeah baldus, that should be fixed for sure.

the selection of the all-nba team should be refined. the positions are messed up they select by c, pf ,sf sg, pg. that is so screwed up it should be the two best forwards and the two best guards not by the best shooting guard or small forward or whatever. also, the first team and second team should be given to players whose teams are only in the playoffs. they can give the third team to players who had great individual seasons but were not able to make the playoffs.

So I just got done playing a game, and boy am I dissapointed. Is it just me, or does the last minute of a game completely SUCK. I think i'll just make my complaints in a random list type form:
1) The CPU needs WAY better end game logic. It's terrible. I mean they were down 6 with 45 seconds left, and the point guard stood at the top of the key and dribbled in place for 15 seconds, nobody on the team even moved. Then they jacked up a crazy three, and when I got the rebound, fouled in desperation. Where was that desperation when they were standing around with their heads up their bums? If the CPU would have decent end game logic, they wouldnt have to cheat like it does now. I just wanna see the CPU team run a play for a quick three, or when they are down 6 with a minute left rather than intentional foul right away, wait and try and force a steal, or for the ball to go to the hands of a poor free throw shooter. I mean at least wait five seconds before you choose to foul a 90% free thow shooter. This bugs the crap out of me. They just apply some stupid formula. I mean I'll be up two with 35 seconds left and dribble for 11 seconds and then they intentional foul when the clock hits 24 seconds. They dont even take into account that the shot clock will run out and as long as they rebound a missed shot, they will get the ball back. I mean either foul or dont foul. Dont go half way. OK, OK, I'm just venting now..... moving onward.
2) I had a player reach the 50 point mark in the last 2 minutes of this same game. Would it be so hard to have the announcers mention this? I mean even just something generic like "Wow what a night, this guy has poured in 50 points!" If you watch a real NBA game, when a guy gets above 40, they mention his point total after every point he scores, and show a little graphic about it. Is this too much to ask? I dont think so. The stat shoutouts appear to be completely random as it is now, and same with the graphics. I dont know how many times I've had a starter score a bucket, and then the "bench scoring" graphic pops up. How is that relevent to what just happened?
3) The whole intentional foul thing bugs the crap out of me. Where they so lazy that they could only make one annimation for this? In a close game of LIVE, there is usually like 5 or 6 intentional fouls at the end of a game, so why do we have to see the same stupid animation all of the time? And it is almost impossible to avoid the foul. I would like the option to at least take the risk of attempting a pass. I mean, the players just hold the ball if the guy is within 10 feet. And I HATE getting fouled when I'm up for with like 1.2 seconds left. Just concede victory damnit!!!
4) The CPU really needs to recognize garbage time too. I'm tired of blowouts and the CPU still acts like its a close game. They try and dribble out the clock and run a stall. Most NBA games when there is a blowout the benches clear and its a free for all the last couple of minutes, with guys trying to earn playing time or something other than a 10 day contract.
5) It is nearly impossible to get up a last second shot. As a matter of fact, in the game I just played, the CPU jacked up a 70 footer with about three seconds left, I mean it went out of bounds before the clock ran out. They should have been able to get up a decent shot on the other side of half court, at least. And would it be so hard to use a different animation for half court shots. How many NBA players shoot a jumper form 85 feet? Even NBA Jam had a different animation for this. Also, you should be able to get a shot off if you have quick fingers in just under 1 second. Often times, I will have 2.5 seconds left and cant get a shot up.
Anyways, these are a few suggestion that I think would REALLY improve the game. I would rather they made improvements on these kinds of things and left the graphics nearly exactly as is. I'm not too worried about getting a next-gen port for the PC, most people dont even have a graphics card that would support it. They need to go about making the game more fun to PLAY, not more fun to LOOk AT. You can only look at the game for so long before it gets boring.
To quote Andrew, these types of things "dont make me want to try harder, they make me want to turn the game off!"

As much as I liked NBA Live 06 I shouldve just downloaded an update from the internet because the format and layout did not change. The only thing I respect EA for is tweaking the graphics and adding the superstar abillites. Asides that everything else was the same to be honest. I want EA to start from scratch when creating this game. Why do EA tend to neglect the NBA games compared to Madden and FIFA?

during playoff games... why not get sum confetti to fall after the home team wins? and also.. maybe after a player makes a shot, show a close up on him as he is congradulated and hustles back on defense
Sun Jun 25, 2006 2:29 am
also have the player of the game get interviewed and show the interview or show the anouncers talking after the game.. just anything to make it more realistic
Mon Jul 03, 2006 12:32 am
argeed but how exactly would the d-league work in live with the schuduling and stuff? Cuz i know in MVP or in any baseball game theyt have smaller schudules...and rules to send down ppl..so how exactly would that work?
Also... international leagues would be a nice addition to the game...but can it be done? or is this 2 much of a goal to accomplish?
Waiting for le Live 2007 =)
Sun Jul 16, 2006 5:38 am
ok, may i say... baldus i feel for you there
countless times have i experienced the intentional foul nightmare, and the player who forgets that the ball only has to leave your hands and not go thru the net before the buzzer goes off
the d league wud be a great addition, simple to just send a guy to the appropriate dleague team and see him progress (depending on how gd/bad the player was - better players receiving no development and poorer players receiving more)
not sure about the international teams, wudn't that just defeat the object of calling the game 'NBA Live'??

Redesign from scratch since NBA Live 06 was a giant turd! I meen ameplay was like in slo motion and you had to push buttons to make a star move???? what about the other players without special ability???? EA sucks from one year to another... I have seen videos of the upcoming live and i looked more realistic but still players seem to drag their feet not walk or run. This happens when people that don't know shit about basketball make a game.

does anyone have the time to actually check what percentage of our original wishlist actually became reality? i'd venture to guess somewhere in the 10% range? no?
