EEK... After playing the next-gen version at best buy, I was not impressed. I figured I would invest in the currect gen and let the messed up gameplay bake for a year on the 360 and do the current gen again this year.

After reading this, I'm not even investing in the current-gen, which is a shame. I loved 06, which was a vast improvement over 05, which I also loved.

If this stuff gets fixed, I certainly invest my $.

I'll pass it on to Andrew, and he'll pass it on to a contact for EA.

I'm not even going to ask for the in-game save feature. Been ignored for the last 6 NBA Lives. (What year was the last that had it? 99?

I think Live 2000 was the last time it was featured. Like others, I really would like that back.

I pretty much believe that... this series appears to be dead. We've all come to a dead end - for whatever reason, EA don't produce quality games anymore, they lost the effort and the momentum they once had. Now if we stop buying their crap they'll stop producing stuff at all or move to other areas and PC gaming will move another step closer to hell.

Even if EA comes up with some patch for 07 I highly doubt we'll ever be able to enjoy the gameplay. It's been a little too long waiting all those years giving them another chance, and another chance, and another... These days, I think, basketball simulation is supposed to feel and play a lot different than what EA keeps presenting.

Considering all this here's, I believe, the most important question - DO WE REALLY NEED to have a new Live every year only to see another undeveloped and rushed beta-like version?

damn, this is most definetely more than a deja-vu to me!
ea sucks year after year with this, also like community is writing petitions again and again. but wat do we get from ea? slightly different mods with the same cheap code inside. and on top there is the obvious ignoring of all pc-players which have made this series big: becoming next gen only to consoles ("luckily" pretty crappy development).
i have told it in several forums, my clan forum, my friends playing with me and i say it again here.

i will not buy any ea-game anymore. you guys stink.
you wasted my money and my trust. i am so disappointed by your performance, u treat your employees like animals, u make an unbelievable amount of money with this crap, but not with mine anymore.

and yes: for the last time sign me, dirk wegener from germany, reignman23@web.de

Havent some people realized that EA has never provoded fix's for any prior verions of live.
All patch's fix's etc have for all versions of live have been made by people who actually play the game. So give it up! This happens every year, and every year EA does Nothing to resolve any issue. Sending a petition sounds like a good idea. However what most seem to forget is that EA gets the same complaints every year becaus ethey release a crappy product every year and stuborn die-hards actually pay for game every year.

here a better plan than sending petition.
Everyone who signs petition should pool their money to BUY only 1 Current version of that years live.
Seed through toreent rapid share, file share etc..

Download, install, play and explore truth in advertising
post a review of game.
AFTER it passes review buy game.
After it fails review, refuse to pay for crappy product.

As long as EA is going get your money no matter how crappy the product the product will always be crappy.

Don't bother posting if you're just going to make up facts. NBA Live 2005 had a patch, as well as several others before that.

That's the kind of attitude that won't get us anywhere. At least with this petition we have a chance of getting what we were entitled to in the first place. And they actually have released patches in the past for previous versions.

Tue Oct 03, 2006 9:02 am

ooh so they did 1 patch for a crappy product they released?
still dont make my statement any less true. they suppose to fix their product BEFORE releasing it with the need to to be patched due to major flaws.
New to me. thanks for that info, still dont mean much
1 patch out of how many needed patches dont amount to " EA cares about its victims"
Thats like saying saying "i bought some of the same kind of shoes every year and each year the shoes are missing strings, soles, and thread. but since they did give me some string in 05 i'll buy all the 06, 07, 08, 09 etc versions."

Tue Oct 03, 2006 9:25 am

binballin: There was a patch for Live 95, 98, 99, 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2005.
And if you mention anything about downloading the game illegally again you will be banned.

Tue Oct 03, 2006 9:27 am

they did release plenty of patches... actually they released patches for 75% of the iterations of this game.

it doesn't excuse them for nothing. it just gives us an indication that they may listen to our complaints cause they have in the past.

BUT even if the game has awful bugs, it's unfinished, etc, etc... there is no reason to incur into piracy of the game. rent the game, if you don't like it you don't buy it and don't play it.

U have all raised some valid points.. thanks for your input

I passed up purchasing Live 06 as there were not too many new features that differentiated it from Live 2005; Live 07, however, was quite enticing and I purchased it immediately. Then came the bug reports of substitution patterns (or lack thereof), the inconsistent roster cutoff date and the gameplay issues. I'll still play the game as it remains a superior product to NBA Live 2005 as far as features go, but I certainly was quite disappointed with the product I purchased. It is slightly a shame that there is no other major label producing an NBA game: a little competition for an otherwise monopolized market goes a long way in enhancing the product.

I hereby finish my polite expression of disappointment with the game and add my signature to this petition; I only hope that something does come of it.

I've been here a lot before, but I finally decided to sign up just to post my serious issues with this game. For starters, this game comes around shortly before my birthday every year (October 5) so that clearly creates a happy birthday. I've been playing this game since Live 97 with Mitch Richmond on the cover. Who would've thought that 10 years later these easy-to-fix and primative problems would haunt a game? I always thought people's beefs with 05 and 06 were really ticky-tack but this year, I must say that the game is close to unplayable with the no substitution issue, it lacks realism and makes the game less fun. I've been a loyalist to the game to the point of not even playing the 2K NBA games unless i was at a friend's who happened to have the game, all the while stating that game's flaws compared to Live. Anyway, I bought the game before renting which i usually do with NBA Live. I got it for the sale price of $34.99 and most stores around here don't let you take things back once they're opened, all you can do is get the same game back as if you're taking it back because it's damaged. So, this whole situation makes me regret buying the game for the PS2. If EA does improve the game, would I have to send mine into them or what would happen? Oh, here's my signature for the petition; something NEEDS to be done.

I just discovered something. Pretty sure everyone here know this year CPU controlled players are very slow getting back on defense. This is what happened. Yao is in foul trouble, I need him in the game for offense. So I put in Mutombo at PF, so I got a shotblocker. When I'm on offense, Mutombo always the first one run straight to the basket. CPU is very slow get back on defense, so Mutombo is always open going toward the basket. I got like 5-6 dunks before CPU finally putting defense on him.

Any dirty words can't be enough.

Bugs/Problems that I can't stand:
--The Game Crashes when Click "Exit Game", not going back to main menu.
--Direct pass function took BACKWARD ("Last man back" removed, dunk/layup messed up...ETC.)
--No option for Fatigue affect option, no fatigue, no subs.
--PG fucking dominates
--3 pt determination fucking weird.
--player stats calculated WRONG (Intercept counts TO, blocked counts 2FG att...)

I been playing Electronic Arts games since Dr J, Vs Bird was on Commodore 64. By far NBA Live 07 is the shoddiest piece of software I have ever installed on a computer. the list of bugs appears to be endless with some users experiencing problems and others not? Its a strong posibility that regardless of the outcome EA won't see another nickel from me. CPU subs are huge part of the similation experience. This isn't an accident. Its like buying a car with no gas tank. If it isn't there then the manufacturer left it off on purpose.

a silly minor bug I noticed right after I installed the game a couple days ago - I didn't see it mentioned around here yet - why is there a user slider for dunk vs. layup now that there is a separate button for dunk and layup?

regarding the discussion on patches for previous versions - how many of the patches were really solving major gameplay issues that ruined the entire gameplay?

Live 97 - domination of centers, partially addressed by some of the community patchers
Live 98 - no AI defense, extreme easy gameplay, not addressed by the patch
Live 99 - bunch of holes, only some of them addressed by the patch
Live 00 - the most balanced game I can remember so far...
Live 01 - offensive rebounding, not addressed by any patch
Live 02 - luckily didn't even hit the PC market...
Live 03 - complete mess, no patch, no comment
etc...

one more thought - I might be completely wrong, but I believe EA does all this on purpose. This is just a part of their current strategy, there is just no way in the world they would release products with such elementary bugs going unnoticed. The strategy as I see it is that they focus on putting up a huge campaign before each year's release to boost the initial sales as much as possible. They always leave some freaking holes in the game and after people discover them they have no other choice but to wait for next year's release to possibly have the bugs fixed. It would be easy for EA to release a patch fixing all major issues in every release but then - wouldn't the game be just what we've been waiting for? And what about next year's sales? What if there's nothing so attractive next year and people just stick with the last version? EA realized a couple years ago that, for whatever reason, they just can't come up every year with amazing new features anymore. And if each release is flawless, what other reason do people have to buy next year's product if not for the hope of finally having a complete product? They rather have all loyal fans wait for the next best thing which, apparently, still doesn't come...
