Talk about NBA Live 07 here.

Not bad for June, but they still need to improve a lot of things.I am optimistic that they will fix most of the bugs and we will get a great game on the market.

But overall, i like what i see..

The second time I watched it I also noticed that. I was writing the notes while watching the video and I thought that weirt FT tehnique was so uniqually Shaq.

screenshots look like shit, worse than my game now, it looks to square, hopefully it will look better than that.
Fri Jun 09, 2006 6:21 am
Terrible screenshots, but great graphics in the videos. the gameplay looks very choppy.
Fri Jun 09, 2006 6:28 am
screenshots are messed up, but I like the video.
Fri Jun 09, 2006 6:42 am
This is very misleading, however its good to see what both next-gen and current-gen are looking like at this point in development. Its funny that Dirk won the series after an OFFENSIVE rebound. They really need to work on the defense because it wasn't even there.
Shaq hits every freethrow off the front of the rim, then the backboard, then through the net. Shaq doesn't shoot FT's in that style. He holds the ball above his head, he doesn't bring it from the waist.
I didn't notice much "foot-planting" but there was alot less sliding. They still have the morphing animation for steals.
The screenshots show that the jerseys are similar to previews from last year. We probably won't be getting those jerseys. Lighting looks very different than 06 current-gen.
Fri Jun 09, 2006 6:45 am
did they remove the superstar moves?
because i didn't see any of it,
tricks look very the same as in 06,the only thing they changed are the graphics, and de players move like robots
Fri Jun 09, 2006 6:48 am
Hahah, watch part from 4:27..
How many steps did Wade do ?
Fri Jun 09, 2006 7:09 am
when they running back to defense on the vid they look like michael jackson's thriller the way they are hunched. nice gfx in ways but gameplay ain't looking good imo i don't think they're gonna improve that much between now and release date.

I don't think that is the video of NBA LIVE 07. It's the XBOX 360 version of LIVE 06. I'm 99% sure.
the screens look like the previews we got for live 06 last year. Only less quality screens.
Fri Jun 09, 2006 9:21 am
It's NBA Live 07. I'm also led to believe the video is next-gen while the screenshots are current-gen.
To be honest, I'm not that concerned that for the moment the game still looks quite similar to NBA Live 06. In all fairness even if we had been blown away by the graphics, some people would be lamenting the fact "all the time will be spent on graphics and not gameplay".
But I have to admit, I'm not big on graphics. I don't mind NBA Live 06's graphics, as I said in the expectations thread I wouldn't mind 07 having the same or slightly better graphics if gameplay and Dynasty Mode are greatly improved. But that's just me.

I hate to quote myself here, but I've watched it three times now and it honestly looks like claymation, am I alone in thinking this?

Thats the first thing I thought of when I watched the video, and I watched it before I read your post too.

I have to say, that is extremely dissapointing. I don't care for the screens, they are obvious from a current gen sytem.
I haven't played live 06 for xbox 360, but for those that have, is that video andifferent at all? From the clips I've seen, it looks exactly the same, with absolutely shocking blending between animations, player flow etc.
I have read numerous times quotes from EA saying how they were building the game up from scratch and not using work from previous games, but all I see is old repeated animations.
The crowd is quite ridiculous, in that no one is moving, and then everyone is upstanding, almost all insync.
Alley oops still are unrealistic, with players facing away from eachother to catch the ball.
Also, does Jason Williams body type actually look that long and lean? I didn't think so. Shaq looks good. Animations are repetitive and choppy, but as mentioned, the blending between them is really dissapointing.
long ways to go, i am hoping leaps and bounds above this for the ps3.

Did they specifically tell you that the video is from LIVE 07? Or jsut the screens? Cause now i'm 99.99% sure that the Video is the xbox360 version of live 06. Check out the videos of the mavs games on this page and you'll see it's the same game. No FSS superstars and the same crowdreactions and lay ups and dunks and also the same gameplay.

For me the most important thing is gameplay and online play. I am probably gonna get PC and next gen version and stick to the one with the best (online) gameplay.

Well I'm pretty sure the "dunk-on" animations weren't in Live 06 for next-gen. Remember, the game is VERY early, it seems 90% of you guys expect EA to give us a game that's about to hit the shelves. EA isn't gonna overhaul everything every year, of course they're going to work off the same graphics engine as last years version.
Also, the screens are from XBox and the video from Xbox360, I'm 99% sure about that.

Yes, that's what I was told. Both are from NBA Live 07.

** The video its the PC version ?? **
And the sreenshots are POOR live 06 have better graphics
Fri Jun 09, 2006 11:37 am
cam, about building the game from scratch, EA did that for the xbox360 last year, which means they didn't port the game over and just improve visuals. They wrote the coding from scratch but still used animations that they had. I don't think they would or could do that every year.

Now take a fucking guess!
Anyway, even if it was PC version, I bet you guys would be blown away. Nothing here satisfies anybody. You complain about the current gen graphics on PC, then when you see the next-gen graphics you say "Man, this game looks like shit. Look at ___'s body! They don't look like that! The sweat is unrealistic. There's still sliding. The jerseys move funny.
So damn picky I tell ya, picky!

Thanks pdub. I just get sick of seeing the same dunk animatnio year after year. It's particuarly obvious when u see a different looking game (360) with the same old animations.
Fri Jun 09, 2006 3:08 pm
i watched the video again and something that really bothered me was the free throws. first the man on the corner standing closest to the ref will always do the same complaining motion, and then throw their hands up late
also there is like nobody to catch the ball. In live there is a flash thingy and the ball appears in your hand again after the little flash. but in this video the ball just goes dead in the middle of the paint, then it comes to life and bounces to you. That is like a big no-no. They should seriously address that.
Also they've seen to be bring back some old moves. The layup Terry did under the hoop reminds me of the 03 layup. As noted before, there doesnt seem to be much foot planting, but I"m happy for the now-lack of sliding.. too bad EA still left in some of the crappy adjust animations, steals, and tipping.
Another thing... is it harder to like shoot or something... or were the people playing the game morons. Like about half of their shots they let the player start coming down before releasing the shot, giving it that weird motion, and that resulted in a lot of blocks... (they should fix the block shot animation as well)
There was also like one part in the movie, not sure when... i think around the 5 minute mark when Dirk was dribbling the ball and he was the only one moving, then all of a sudden everyone on the court jerked to life and starting running around. was just startled by that a bit.
Also. no more of that weird little side passes.. .like when the player turns and sort of shovel passes the ball next to his waist with a weird turning motion. Players dont usually make that pass, and that kind of pass has no power and should not make it across the court untouched at such a high speed.
The backwards trotting thing.. yeah... looks weird, they are all hunched over and everything... at least have them turn around and run.
Around like 8:41 Jason Williams gets fouled and it goes from the foul motion to his arms at his sides or something in mid air, skipping... at like 9:00 when Wade dunks and lands, he instantly slides a few feet from where he landed....
By the way.. do players seriously always throw lob passes with their left hand as a lead if they are a right? no...... no way (see like 9:23)
I know this is still early and EA has a lot of work to do.... just things to consider and hope they fix...

I don't care so much about the graphics, I am definately gameplay oriented. Jason Williams looked less real, but more like Jason Williams in my current live 06 on PC. For next gen I would expect better than that. Not a backwards step. I don't care about the sweat on the players. I don't expect the players feet to be sliding at all. It is an obvious flaw when some other things look so realistic, in contrast this stands out. I don't care about the Jerseys moving funny.
Animation flaws I consider to be part of gameplay, not graphic elements.
Fri Jun 09, 2006 6:19 pm
Nothing changed really. You are autosuggested because you WANT to see something new, and you look at details like hair

. Nah, they didn't change anything, and it will remain like this, for sure. The 360 version is really poor, those animations... and players with the ball remaining on their hands without bouncin it, and those crappy animations and unproportionated bodies... The xbox version looks like in 06, they will only update menu colors and change a pair of jerseys and logos. If you buy this you're totally crazy. Just download the patchs people here is making during months. All patchers here are better than EA graphic's boys.
If you like to patch I think a next-gen looking version for PC would mess all the patching thing, because I had live 06 for 360 and the jerseys have different volumes and textures. It's not only a 3d mesh with a pic on it. I would say they would made a better job porting the game to 360 last year instead of making a new one from the scratch, because I don't know what the hell are they tryin' to do with the next-gen version, but it doesn't look like a basketball game.
DON'T BUY IT THIS YEAR (Lots of us said this last year but we still bought)
