Ermm, how to make gameplay more difficult?

Postby Chris_23 on Mon Jun 04, 2007 4:27 am

Hey everybody. I'm in my third season in my dynasty and having won the second season and more or less looking like challenging 95-96 Bulls record for wins in the season (currently 40-5), I'm wondering how can I make the game more difficult?

I've taken Pdub's sliders from sliders discussion thread and tried them out and while my scoring percentages and the like have gone down, it's still too easy to win. Yes, I'm playing on superstar level.

My team is rather strong of course, I have Garnett and Kwame up front, Morrison and Hinrich backcourt and a 78 overall second year rookie in SF, so it's definetly a championship material, but I'd love to have a harder time winning games.

One of the obvious things to tweak are sliders I imagine, but I don't want to simply run up CPU's shooting percentages. I'd like to know what I could do to make my penetration more difficult and stopping the opponent on defence more difficult. As far as shooting percentages go, both me and the computer score equally well so they don't play bad because of their shooting. It's more about the defensive stops and ability to simply outplay the computer in offense.

Any suggestions, ideas, advice?

Maybe increase freestyle efectivenss to 75 for CPU and increase CPU on ball defense to 100! Also maybe decrease game speed, if you score many points in fast breaks! And maybe increase steal and intercaptions sliders for CPU in 45 I suggest!

Witch aiact did you use? :)

Increasing the CPU's shooting sliders is probably the easiest method but since you don't want the percentages to get too high, I'd second spaky's suggestion of increasing the CPU's on-ball defense sliders as well as decreasing the User Freestyle Effectiveness. Setting the interception and steal sliders higher than normal is a good suggestion too, it should force you to be much more careful with the ball. You could also reduce the User on-ball defense sliders so you'll have a tougher time stopping penetration.

hey i agree the game is a little too easy ive won 3 seasons in a row now without dropping a game and really dominating teams.

Its too easy to steal the ball especially when the cpu inbounds the ball. One trick i use is move ur player at the same time the cpu inbounds, this way the ball hits ur player and u get a steal. Im winning by over 50 points on 3 min qrts on superstar.

So i think the best thing to do is use the sliders to make it difficult.

The only thing that works for slowing your drive is the on-ball physical defense of the computer. It doesn't really stop me, but they are more likely to bump you backwards when you start to drive, which can be discouraging. You might also want to turn up double team effectiveness. The thing is you will almost always beat the cpu even if you change directions after being "stopped" during the drive. It's just a flaw of the computer defense.

You can also try the SUM aiact, I have been told that the cpu is more aggressive at stealing passes, but the same can be done with the sliders. If you want to try it by itself pm me because I have only released it with SUM and it installs a bunch of other stuff.

Oh and welcome back.

Guys I have a bit of a problem. I play 7min quaters to keep the score in more realistic frame (70-100) BUT the CPU have not substituted as of yet!!!! What sliders do I need to change? I set CPU ingame substitute to 80 and still no results@#%#$!

try using my man playmakers sliders and playbooks on all star or superstar

here's the link for the sliders
http://sportsgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72903

Just use jimmy's playbooks

I also use Revolutions 8.2(final) aiact

this is the most challenging for me

The only way to really fix the substitutions is to increase the sub frequency to around 100 and/or lower the Fatigue ratings so that players tire quicker. The NLSC update does already globally lower Fatigue ratings though so if you're using that you might want to up the sub frequency slider first.

Thanks I upped it to a 100 and it finally allows 1-3 other players to play in game.

I really hope the EA fixes this annoying bug. Even when you simulate the games majority of players on the bench get some playing time. I think it is just sloppy arcade style AI.

Hey, Andrew sorry to bug you so much with questions but you seem like an editing and patching encyclopedia :)

Do you by any chance know which file is responsible for rookie generation in dynasty mode and for salary generation for free agents?

Yo ukrainik, search the forums instead of trolling this with your own problems.

I wanna know how to make the game harder too, My sliders are jacked and on 8 minute quarters I easily score 130+ and give up a max 100. Honestly though I don't think it's possible, the game is just not hard no matter what you do.
