Lighting, someone help please

Postby SpaceFlare on Sat Nov 17, 2007 8:26 am

I read that you needed to turn lighting on to be able to see the sweat effect on the players' arms and legs. Unfortunately, my video card isn't supported by the game and thus I can't turn on the lighting function.

I was thinking, there might be a way around it. This is where any of you guys come in.

Since the settings are stored in a settings.dat file, I deduced that maybe I could send my file to anyone willing to turn on the lighting function on for me and send it back to me.

Please tell me if I am wrong or not. If I am correct, please help me turn the lighting on. :)

It depends on your videocard. If you have a Geforce MX series, you can't do it. You might be able to get away with it if you use integrated graphics like an Intel Graphics chip or something.

Hmm, my graphics card apparently is *checks* Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family.

Will it work?

You just might be in luck. Upload your settings.dat file to rapidshare and post the link. I'll turn on lighting for you and post a link so you can see if it works.

i just downloaded the settings file and put it in my saves/settings. Opened the game to see if the settings was turned on, it still wasnt turned on.

It's weird how my NBA 07 has sweat effects but I cant seem to make 08 work eventhough I copied everthing from 07 sgsm to the 08 sgsm files. Do you have any other suggestions, perhaps other folders of files that I can try copy and pasting from 07 to 08??

After playing around with the files for abit I finally got sweat effects to work.
First off, my computer runs on an integrated intel graphics accelerator, which isn't powerful enough, or isnt supported by the game, to activate the lighting effect. Heres what I did to finally get the sweat effect to work.

1. Extract cyberface sweat patch into sgsm
2. Extract arms & legs sweat patch into sgsm
3. Extracted a 2x tattoe file that replaces the one in sgsm/players
4. Copied the downloaded 'settings' files from Pdub and placed it into mydocuments/nbalive08/settings

Note: I don't have any additional patches installed other than the IRPT roster update

Hope this helped out guys who don't have a powerful graphic card to get sweat effect to work
