Is there a way to edit the staff's salary or maybe even their ratings? I tried DB commander and toyed with some of the values with the staff, but i did not yield any result...

Well, be more specific... Which dbf's did you edit, which columns and most important:
Have you edited them and started a dynasty afterwards or have you editet the dbfs in your saved dynasty?

u edit u're staff after u saved u're dynasty correct?
then in the db commander u should see at the top of the staff u want to edit
gradavg
attrib1
attrib2
atrrib3
change all of them to 0 so they would have A+
and their specialy choose 1-5
then u should save it and exit

When I also tried acquiring my 5th staff via dbf editing, by changing a free agent staff's team from 50 o my team number, the game will crash when I go back and check the staff in the dynasty.

So if we cannot "hire" the staff from the backend, how can we increase staff budget then?

Did you just edit the team or did you adjust the contract length and so on? If they are free agents they don't really need a contract length, but if they're on your team and the contract has 0 years on it...I think that might be a problem.

That's just a thought though.

YEARS is the contract length and EXP_YEAR should be the years left on the contract. That's how I understood it. Hence YEARS >= EXP_YEAR. Free Agents have a 0 in YEARS. But this might be wrong and some wicked thoughts have taken over my brain...who knows

About the budget: Don't know how to edit the budget for your staff but you can decrease the salary your staff gets.

I just found a way to have the best staff in NBA LIVE 06, i.e., from the backend using dbf editing.

So since I cannot hire another staff I need to start over. The plan was to hire the cheapest staff and "release their potential" with db comm. So after the Playoffs, I edited staff contract year to "0" so they will be free by offseason, and I can start getting new staff. I placed their salary at 1K each.

During offseason, Team Owner only gave me a total budget of $650K. So I rehired my former staff, and I don't know why but they are not willing to sign with other teams. I hired them back for minimum, and used the extra to complete my compliment of 5 staff.

Just a note, the system may have a hidden file that registers salary paid to staff. Before I placed all my staff to free agents and rehired them, I tried just editing the salary to a minimum, to get my 5th staff. But Team Owner always says I cannot afford to get another one. Hence, I decided to start over, released all of them, and hired them all again.
