FSS .dbf editing issues

Sat Sep 15, 2007 10:09 pm

for example i'm creating a player, just in case to create one. then edit his ratings via .dbf. i want to assign superstar abilities, so i change isorigstar to true, then change superstar and validstar fields according to the abilities i want to assign (i also edit respective ratings in order to qualify for the certain superstar ability). my question is - how these very last fields of players.dbf which determine superstar ability work (those who haven't got this ability usually have negative integer). does the game recalculate those negative values according to the ratings or must i set those negatives myself? that's an issue when defining either star or superstar abilities.

After you edit the ratings in the dbf, load the roster up and go to edit player. Save the player and the FSS abilities should be automatically assigned. I really don't know how they work dbf-wise.

i bet most of the guys, who read my thread, couldn't grasp the real idea of my post.

here i would refer to M@dDog's reply in other thread to start my explanation. (NBA Live 07 (current gen) FSS Ability Cheat Sheet under NBA Live 07 General forum)

M@dDog wrote:Actually, you're right about the Star ratings but the Superstar ratings don't have any rating prerequisites.
When you want to create a superstar player, you need to check the last columns in players.dbf. Inthere, you can find different values (positive or negative).
If it's negative, the player doesn't have any FSS move.
But if it's postive, your player is at least a Star player. After that, if you want him to become a Superstar player you need to check the score. See below how it works :
1. Superstar Highflyer: score = 45+
2. Superstar Playmaker: score = 40+ (don't pay attention to the superstar logo displayed in the Superstar list for playmakers, there is a bug that displays the superstar logo even if the player is only a star)
3. Superstar Power: score = 45+
4. Superstar Outside Scorer: score = 35+
5. Superstar Inside Scorer: score = 35+
6. Superstar Shooter: score = 30+
7. Superstar Outside Stopper: score = 35+
8. Superstar Inside Stopper: score = 30+

so if you go at the very end, here you will find a "clutch" field. after that there are fields that refer to fss abilities:
sstar_hf - highflyer
sstar_pw- power
sstar_sco- outside scorer
sstar_sci- inside scorer
sstar_sh- shooter
sstar_sto- stopper outside
sstar_sti- stopper inside

in there, you'd find a bunch of negative values - for the players who don't have certain superstar ability. whenever value is positive - the player obtains the particular superstar ability. so again my question is...if i edited for example 3 pt rating, would the game, if i loaded edit-a-player mode and save changes, recalculate those negative values in sstar_sh (i.e. shooter) according to the changes i made to the particular rating? if anything's still unclear, i would try to explain in more detail..

Yes it will recalculate it. That's what I meant by "FSS abilities should be automatically assigned." I should have said "FSS ratings will automatically be recalculated."
