Xbox Wireless Controller or NBA Live 07?

I'll start by saying this has been the worst and most frustrating pc gaming experience of my life... ok, that is now off my chest 
(sorry to put you through that :S)
So I decided to buy the xbox 360 wireless controller & reciever for windows and also NBA Live 07, since I love playing the NBA Live series.
I bought both the game and controller at 3 pm and have been trouble shooting for 5 1/2 hours straight till 8:30pm and have yet to play a single second of basketball
My problem is that I cannot have the best of both worlds. If I install my xbox 360 controller NBA Live 07 will not work. On startup, the startup screen appears, screen goes to black, then I'm sent back to the desktop with the program still in the taskbar. If I click on the program in the taskbar I get a black screen them am sent back to the desktop. If I uninstall the xbox 360 controller, the game works fine.
Apparently my controller is conflicting with the game some how, which to me seems like the most ironic situation out of this whole mess.
One of the most frustrating things has been the lack of support and information for both NBA Live 07 and the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for windows. Ea doesn't even have an NBA Live 07 Forum (http://forums.ea.com/mboards/index.jspa?sls=2) and Microsoft only list's Sidewinder products under their hardware support list (http://support.microsoft.com/hardware). I did manage to find some information on the xbox 360 site, however nothing helpful. Turned out the controller was greedy and only it was allowed to be connected to the computer and I had to disconnect my other hardware (trackir pro 4, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, Wacom tablet).
If anyone is able to help me figure out how to use the 360 controller to play NBA Live 07, I would appreciate that greatly! Thanks.

Well don't bother answering if someone out there was even remotely thinking about it. I just took the xbox 360 controller back and got a Logitech Dual Action controller and everything works like a charm. Thank goodness for Logitech.
