Problem with switching FSS on the go

I hope this is the place to put this.

When I configure my controller (a generic brand, playstation like controller) everything works, except that when I'm in the game, and I hold down the Freestyle button and press the righ analog button in (to switch the super star ability on the run), nothing happens.

I was wondering where I'm supposed to set this up, or if I missed something. Maybe I'm doing it wrong?

Any suggestions?

Make sure the right analog button is assigned to Off-Ball control. That's definitely the correct technique to change FSS movesets.
