It's possible only if player has usual, popular name like Robertson, Smith etc. If he has rare name like Durant commentators will not pronounce his name but arena dictors will say "number 35" instead of his name.

I have similar question. I have noticed that there is a name.dbf file with specifics of hundreds of names (whether it is firs or laswt or both what region they come from e.t.c.) Is this file a reference for generator of rookies in the dynasty or does it refer to audio files for announcers?

P.S. tree55292, if you want you can definitely add a nickname from a nichnames.dbf for your player like "C-Webb" or "Oak" etc. The players.dbf has a NICKNAME ID column. My personal favorite is ukraine traine

Both. It's a database of names that are used for generated rookies, names that have valid audio files have a number listed under SPEECHID beginning with 55. This ID number can be used in the SPEECHID field in players.dbf to assign a player an audio file. If you create a player with a surname in the database (like Smith or Johnson), the appropriate SPEECHID will already be applied.

Awesome! Thanx again. I'm gonna go try it out.

A follow up question: Are theere audio files for nicknames (lightning, C-webb etc)? IF yes where do I find them and what do I need to edit in player .dbf?

why there are so many names in the name.dbf that we can't use? there are only a few names with a speech id. would be cool if we could use all of the names :?
good patchers deserve good comments!!!

I second this motion. Kinda like they have in winning eleven: in the player creation menu you are given a full list of all possible audio names and nicknames.

I guess we can only speculate as to the reason but I agree a larger list of names with speech would be handy.

As long as we are "dreaming"...
They should just take someone like Bill Walton or Steve Jones give them a phone book plus list of most common Asian, European and African names and pay one lump sum for the whole library for ages to come. Then the announcers they hire for a spesific generation of Live can do all out, in depth discussion about who is a better shooter LeBron or Mr. Smithers but generic phrases like "Wade is back on the court...", "Anthony dunks the ball..." or "Bibby makes a steal..." can be all carried over to the next gen without any problem... I think.
