tips on lowering total pts. scored by each team?

Postby ThreeGashes on Thu May 10, 2007 7:29 am

I'm playing 12min. quarters on Superstar and my team's averaging over 130PPG and allowing over 120. :( I've already lowered game speed to 32 and I was wondering if there are other setting that could affect or lower a team's pts. per game (like lowering the sliders for short, med & long range... changing the level to Starter... etc.) aside from playing good defense (and/or lowering the minutes played per quarter).

The game's perfect so far and there's no PG domination and subs have been very consistent and that's the only problem I'm having.

Thanks!

Yup, that's a big problem with '07...
Personally, even if I like to keep all settings as realistic as possible, I gave up a long time ago on playing 12mn quarters, you'll most likely get crazy scores now matter what.
I was playing 10mn quarters, with game speed of 40 (below that is just ridiculously slow IMO, especially on what should be "fast" breaks :? ). You'll have to experiment lowering the shot efficiency in the sliders (short, mid & long distance), increasing the fouls (mostly shot fouls and in-air collisions), and that should already affect your game in a positive way.
Since getting realistic scores is largely related to sliders, I'd recommend you check the "sliders discussion" thread of this forum, if you haven't already.

Lower inside, mid and long range shooting, maybe more misses...I'm not good with sliders, so I just use someones, try Pdub's, Andrew's or Jimmy's.

Played a couple games with the lowered short, medium & long range sliders + level on Starter and was getting around 20-25pts per quarter... which is OK. The only problem is, there's fewer pts per quarter because teams are shooting poorly! Bumped the level to All Star and teams started shooting the ball better but again, I'm getting 90+pts quarters in just THREE periods!

I'm playing on Player Lock mode btw but I just wish teams would stop shooting too many times! :x

use more time of the shot clock, maybe let 10-15 seconds on the clock before starting your play.

and use some time on inbound passes when time counts on, after a opponent's bucket maybe 3 seconds...(make sure not to get called for 5-second-violation)

and of course force your opponent to use more clock...
