How To Change Salary And Contact

Postby TSquared on Wed Apr 25, 2007 6:15 am

Hi..id like to change a certain players contract year...for example lebron james..hes in my dynasty right now..and on his last year..i dont want to release him to free agency..i dont have the salary cap to keep him either..how do i extend his contract without having to resign him? can someone please do a step by step guide on DB Commander as to how i can extend his contract or lower the amount of a certain players salary...

And a few more questions if u guys dont mind...
If someone is willing..please...a db commander 2000 step by step guide would be nice...since im new to this dbf editing and i dont wanna mess it up..

*In Jimmy's latest roster installment, there is an and one team..what do i do to get a certain player from that team to be in the free agency list so that i can use him in a dynasty?

*In a dynasty..how do i change the team i am in now to another team? for example..right now im using the cavs..i wanna contol dallas coz im too bored with cleveland already? how do i do it through dbf editing?

Thanks in advance guys..

Editing in DB Commander is pretty easy, so long as you know where to look. The first thing you should do though is make a backup in case anything goes wrong. DB Commander is pretty safe when it comes to editing the dbf files but it's better to be safe than sorry, if you'll excuse the cliche.

To change the contract length: open players.dbf in DB Commander. Locate LeBron James. The easiest way to do this is to use the Find function (Control-F) in the FNAME column to search for LeBron. Please note that for players like LeBron there's often at least two entries in the database, one for the active rosters and one for his appearance on the All-Star team.

Once you find him, you'll need to scroll right until you find the CASH_YEAR field. This field contains a player's salary. A little further to the right you'll find two fields, YEARS_LONG and YEARS_LEFT which denote the length of the contract and the number of years remaining respectively. Those are the fields you'll want to change if you want to give him a long term deal through dbf editing.

You can try to change teams through dbf editing but it's pretty glitchy; usually you can't access the PDA for the new team and the game crashes when you try to make any trades or signings. The only way to switch teams without any problems is to be offered control of another team in between seasons.

The game will only allow you to sign a player for a maximum of six years within the game (just as in real life) but I'm pretty sure you can give a player a longer contract through DBF editing without any problems.
