Problem with Jimmy's 9.7 fix in Vista

Fri Apr 20, 2007 3:06 pm

Okay I usually know my way around my PC but this puzzles me... :?
I tried to contact Jimmy but since he's taking a break, I thought I'd give it a shot here, maybe someone can help me.

I installed Jimmy's 9.7 fix yesterday, following all the instructions, and it actually works great in-game. The problem I'm having is that, as soon as I installed it and inserted the Live DVD, nothing happened, the menu didn't pop up. I figured "no big deal", that's probably a side effect of the patch and I can live with using the shortcut, as long as it's only for Live 07.
But not only is it doing this with all my games now, but it also prevents me from opening or exploring ( in"My Computer") any CD or DVD that I insert. So my other games work because I have shortcuts for them, but nothing else does. My drive recognizes that there is a CD or a DVD inside, but if I double click on it, it asks me how I want to format it!
I've had some weird issues of that type ever since I installed Vista Premium, so I'm guessing it's some kind of conflict with Jimmy's patch, but did that happen to anyone else? I made sure that the "autoplay" option is checked, but it still doesn't work...

My specs: X850XT PE, AMD64 3700, 2GB of PC3200 RAM, MSI K8T800 Pro.

Thanks for any tips

Try to uninstall the gamefix

Try to uninstall the gamefix

I did and nothing happened, still the same problem.
I tried everything, and it was so messed up that I had to use a fucking restore point...
Well, it works now but I'll think twice before installing an .exe or .bat patch without creating a restore point before (and I'd recommend that to anyone who runs Vista as well)... :?
