Is there a way to fix this??

Sat Feb 17, 2007 2:37 pm

Hello,
I bought NBA Live 07 a few weeks ago through EA Link. I got the patch for it but nothing works to get the game to work right. It keeps crashing to windows after every game, whether I'm in play now, dynasty, season, or online. It crashes to windows everytime. I played a quick game of 1on1 and that worked, but nothing else does. I've tried everything from changing rosters to changing my resolution. I can't figure it out and it's really frustrating so if anybody can tell me what I need to do or know of a fix for this problem it would great!! I would really like to start a dynasty and can't with it working like this! Also, the only thing I can think of is maybe a complete reinstall but I don't know how to do this with the copy of the game being from EA Link. Thanks again in advance for any help to get my game working playable again, thank you.

not sure what to try from here, uninstalled and re-downloaded, no luck, can someone suggest what i should try?

I can suggest a couple of things I would try, and what I did, but I can't guarantee any success, even though it seemed to have worked for me.

I seriously think this game crashing is a video card/driver issue, or any program that deals with your video card. For instance, I have ati tray tools. If I have ati tray tools running when I start NBA Live 07, the game will crash when I complete a game and press quit. If I don't run ati tray tools, it won't crash. :?

What I did-

-Uninstall the game completely.
-Defragmented the hard drive that I was installing NBA Live on.
-Disconnect from the internet. Physically unplugged my computer from your dsl modem. If you use dial-up, don't worry about this part.
-Restarted my computer.
-Brought up the Task Manager with CTRL-ALT-DEL, and ended all processes except the following-

taskmgr.exe
explorer.exe
svchost.exe - there will be multiples, thats normal
spoolsv.exe - don't really need it, it is the service needed for your printer
lsass.exe
services.exe
winlogon.exe
csrss.exe
smss.exe
System
System Idle Process

Now I installed the game again, and prayed.

If that doesn't work for you, you can try installing in safe mode, which would have been my next step if the above had not worked.

Create a System Restore point before you try any of this below.

If that doesn't work, I would start troubleshooting by trying different video card drivers, including older ones. I would probably try atleast 3 different sets of drivers, including modded drivers like Omega or NGO, or even beta drivers. I would also look for updated motherboard drivers, or even try older ones.

I hope you are able to fix your problem.

taskmgr.exe always runs in background even if turned off

also theres virtual memory on service pack 2 win xp pro
set to 765 mb and set to programs and not the other

The virtual memory is just part of XP, not just SP1 or SP2.
And setting his swapfile to 765MB isn't optimal with his amount of RAM. While Windows recommends to set it to 1.5 times your RAM, this does not necessarily optimize the performance of your RAM.
For anyone who's wondering about this type of setting or any other one under XP or Vista, I'd recommend checking out this site http://www.tweakguides.com/TGTC.html , and downloading the free guide. It has all the answers you're probably looking for.
