boxing out

i find it hard to box people out in 07 on defence.. i rarely do it but in the gamebook it says that u press right analog down to box out.. i have tried that many times but it just doesnt work.. the offensive player always gets infront of me... i just stand there and wait then just press rebound but some odd times the offensive player will get the ball.
so i was wondering if anyone can help me on how to box out with the right analog stick

I'm pretty sure it meant to hold the right analog stick downwards. Not click, but moving it in a downward position. This also puts the defender into a defensive stands.

That's correct. In my opinion boxing out was much more effective when it was assigned to a shoulder button rather the right analog. However, it still comes down to your positioning; if you're under the rim or an opponent simply has better position you will find yourself being beaten on the boards.

boxing out hardly ever works in this game, when you do it the other player either just goes around you or jumps over your back with no call. It sucks.
